Assuming you purchased the scanner from Comicbase they have a setup page for their scanners. Look in the appropriate users guide for UPC-A setup.

Indeed, with my scanner there was a similar page, no words but barcodes as on this setup!
i just love movies.

Thanks for the links to Comicbase.  I know that I have the documentation around here somewhere but I can't find it right now.

Anyway, just adding UPC-A did NOT fix the problem.  There was a quirk.  I'll go thru how I fixed it in the unlikely case that someone else has this same problem.

So, I got this bar code scanner from Comicbase with the program.  The included documentation lists both a recommended Easy Setup & an Expert Setup.  Since there are potential problems from the Expert Setup, I stuck with the Easy Setup.  BUT, what I realize now is that part of the Easy Setup includes requiring the supplemental codes (the extra 3-4 digits at the end of the normal UPC code which publications like comics will have).  The bar code scanner would NOT recognize a normal UPC code.

I went ahead and did the Expert Setup now.  Virtually the only difference between the 2 setups was that it does NOT require the supplemental codes to be a good scan.  The bar code scanner DOES still read comic bar codes (with the supplemental digits) so that's good.  I guess the possible drawback to this is that if I scan a comic UPC code but do NOT pick up the supplemental digits then the scanner will pass the scan to the program.  The program will NOT identify the comic without those codes so there will be an error, but I can deal with that.

Thanks,
GWGuen
