| Posted: | | | | Looking at Elephants Dream with an asking price of € 35.00 (approx U$47) for a DVD (surprisingly the HD DVD is cheaper, and that's with the discounted DVD price) and a runtime of around ten and a half minutes (~U$7.76/min), I began to wonder What's the most money you've paid per minute for something in your collection?Now for me, it would have to be one of my shorter short films. At a guess (I don't have purchase prices stored so will go by SRP): Rubber Johnny: £11.99 (~U$23.83) for 6 mins = ~U$3.97/minMy Wrongs #8245-8249 & 117: £6.99 (~U$13.90) for 12 mins = ~U$1.16/minThere are packages like the Wizard of Oz: Three Disc Collector's Edition that I chose over other packages for the same movie for the short films in general, but not purely for a single one. Similarly, I grabbed KoRn: Deuce because I was particularly impressed with the remix video for Freak on a Leash, but not solely on that ground. | | | Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!) |

| Posted: | | | | I'm guessing it will be the Transformers G1 sets.. I've been crazy enough to actually hunt them down (even though they are now OOP) right before the release of the movie. So demand is high, price follow. I won't calculate how much per minute it is, but I'm certain it's insane! |

| Posted: | | | | RR, I'm curious to know what the maths works out to on those, because being a series there's a lot of minutes to spread that cost out over. Some of my longer short films (30mins) are nowhere near the price per minute of the two I listed, even if the price tag was a jaw-dropper. | | | Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!) |

| Posted: | | | | Well I'll be damned! Not at all what I expected! The per-minute cost is lower that I thought. Here goes:
Title -> Price/min
Animusic -> 0.65 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs -> 0.59 Animusic 2 -> 0.58 Cinderella -> 0.56 Steel Angel Kurumi: Vol. 5: Encore -> 0.55 Forbidden Planet -> 0.54 Cirque du Soleil: Journey of Man -> 0.51 The Lion King -> 0.49 Romeo And Juliet: Lyon Opera Ballet - Sergei Prokofiev -> 0.47 The Rock -> 0.46
As for my Transformers set:
Season 1 -> 0.13 Season 2 part 1 -> 0.07 Season 2 part 2 -> 0.15 Season 3 part 1 -> 0.21 Season 3 part 2 and Season 4 -> ??? (don't know, still looking for that one)
Much lower than I thought.. And that's assuming the runtimes listed in DVDP are accurate. |

| Posted: | | | | Quoting Mithi: Quote: Funny, I thought Brazil would be #1 It's funny how strongly runtime affects the ratio; I think naturally we consider price more strongly than runtime when we ponder this mentally. Tamala 2010: A Punk Cat in Space (one of my most expensive purchases) is U$43.75 on YesAsia. The maths: U$43.75/92min = ~U$0.48/minSomething like Electric Dragon 80000V Japanese version that I had been considering prior to the US release, but was scared off by the price, even looks cheap compared to the short films: U$44.49/55min = ~U$0.81/minI won't let this stop me getting short films though. I love the freedom of expression they allow, and I tend to watch them multiple times more than their feature-length counterparts. | | | Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!) | | | Last edited: by W0m6at |

| Posted: | | | | Early edition of "George Lucas In Love". $20.27 ($19.95 + tax)/9 minutes = $2.52 a minute. If my math is correct, since like Jethro Bodine I really only learned the basic tutemes & gozintas.
Though it got better when I purchased the Media Trip Edition with three more shorts.
(And the first DVD was bought of a private website before I knew better. But it is so funny it was worth it!)

| Posted: | | | | I recently bought Air's album Le Voyage dans La Lune on vinyl. It cost me £30.06 including shipping. That equates to roughly U$48.9446 (calculated on XE.com). The album includes the short film of the same title on DVD. Said short runs ~15mins. 48.9446/15 = ~U $3.26/min Admittedly this is cheating a bit, as I can pick up the CD for ~$20. Meanwhile, there's also a Limited Edition (which spins at 45rpm), that retails for £200 £200 = ~U$325.630 325.630/15 = ~U $21.71/min As I said, it's cheating. Realistically, I bought at these prices because I wanted the album on vinyl, and the DVD itself can be obtained in much cheaper packages. I haven't bought it, but the pre-order of Iron Sky Collector's Edition is €300 (~U$397.84) 397.84/93 = ~U $4.28/min | | | Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!) |
