| Posted: | | | | Several of the DVDP members have submitted backups of their Cast & Crew databases which have been combined into a Headshot Master Database. This Master backup has several thousand headshots (many high quality) in one easy to apply package. This backup also contains the headshots collected by MadAcid and others for use with Tom Gaine's Cast & Crew viewer application. See the second post in this topic for instructions on submitting updates to the Master database.Family Friendly Version 2.0 is available for download from 3 mirrors. Issues that have been resolved in v2 are: * Nude Shots have been replaced with family friendly shots. * The 27,000 or so erroneous actors have been eliminated. * This backup now only contains the actors that have headshots. * Unneeded birth years have been removed. Feel free to download the file from one of the mirrors and apply it to your local database. (Instruction for restoring the file are at the end of this post.) Check back here for updates! Current version: 2.0 Filename: Master_HeadShots_Backup_2.dpb Mirrors: Thanks to RossRoy, jykke, and ruineddaydreams for hosting the mirrors. Thanks also to snarbo, tlevel, and Astrakan for helping with the cleanup. Headshots Master Database Download Page: Choose a Download Mirror HereYour download of this file from any of the mirrors constitutes your acceptance of both the file content and the disclaimer below. The compiler and host websites cannot be held responsible or accountable for the content in this backup.DISCLAIMERNow the disclaimer: Quote: This is version 1.0 of the Head Shots Master Database Backup. This is a working copy and has not been thoroughly examined to ensure that it is 100% family friendly.
This Master Backup contains images that were submitted by your fellow users of DVD Profiler and may contain some nudity for headshots that were new to the compiler's database and may not have been caught during compilation.
If you find this possibility offensive, or if the possibility of an inappropriate image slipping through is unacceptable to you, then please wait for the next version which will be thoroughly examined to ensure 100% family friendly content.
Before the next release, the Master will be examined and split into 2 versions: a "family friendly" and an "R-rated" version.
Should you happen to find an unsuitable image, or a wrong image, either post the details in this forum topic, or send an email to dvdprofilerheadshots@hotmail.com. We will make sure the the offending image is moved to the "R-Rated" version..
To Import The Headshots Master:Download from one of the mirrors to your local computer. (It is approx 97 mb). Open DVD Profiler Click File | Restore Database Browse to where you downloaded and select the Headshot Master Click Next Click Restore Cast & Crew Databases Set "Existing Photos" to "Let me compare" Decide which images you want to keep. Once you have finished the restore, do a databasde repair to remove all actors that are not credited in a movie in your collection. TIP: You can press "A" to accept the new image, or "K" to keep the existing image. This will speed up the restore over relying on just the mouse. Enjoy! | | | Juoquim

| Posted: | | | | Now that we have the mirrors up and running, I would ask everyone to examine the backup as thoroughly as you can for errors and family friendly content after your have added it into your local database. There are many cleavage shots, but I think we are mainly concerned about any topless and nude shots. If you find non-family friendly headshots after you complete the restore, please either post the information (cast\crew members name and cast or crew section) here or in an email to dvdprofilerheadshots@hotmail.com. New Process For Submitting Updates To The Master Headshots Database Backup1. Import The Master Headshots Database BackupBefore you make a new submission of headshots, please import the Master Headshots Database backup into your collection. (This will cut down on the number of image differences I will have to compare while updating the Master.) Quote: Download the Master from one of the mirrors to your local computer. (It is approx 97 mb). Open DVD Profiler Click File | Restore Database Browse to where you downloaded and select the Headshot Master Click Next Click Restore Cast & Crew Databases Set "Existing Photos" to "Let me compare" 2. Find New or Better HeadshotsIf you find missing or better headshots than are in the Master, paste them into the headshots in the cast & crew section of DVDP: Quote: Double Click the Cast or Crew Members Name in the Main View -or- Go into the Cast or Crew section of the edit profile popup window. -then- Copy the image from the web and right-click/paste on the "Drag an Image Here" box -or- Drag the image file to the "Drag an Image Here" box 3. Backup Your Cast & Crew DatabaseQuote: * File | Backup Database * Uncheck everything except "Include Cast/Crew Databases, With Photos" * Name the backup file with your DVDP ID so I can keep track of who has contributed (Mine would be Juoquim.dpb) ****If You can upload your file to your own webspace, skip steps 4 & 5, and go directly to step 6.****4. Split The Backup FileIf your backup is over 100MB, split it into 90mb parts using WinZip or WinRar Quote: WinZip Instructions: * Zip your "Cast & Crew only" backup file with WinZip (or some other compression program). * Open the new Zip archive file in WinZip. * On the actions menu, choose Split. * Set the part size to 90 MB. * Choose a new name for the archive. * Click OK.
5. Upload To Rapidshare.comQuote: Go to Rapidshare.Com Click the browse button and browse out to your files. Click the Upload! button Click on the Link: "I don't want a collector's account right now. Just give me the download-link." Copy the link to the right of "Your Download-Link #1"

I'm not really concerned about my site getting too busy (can't speak for the others). I have truckloads of bandwidth available, so it shouldn't be an issue. The torrent idea is interesting. Only issue is what tracker to use, and will there be enough people to share to keep the speed up? |

Not if you follow the guide in the first post:- TO IMPORT THE HEADSHOTS You get to choose which picture you want if there is a choice. If the headshot master has a picture for an actor that your local hasn't its a automatic import If you have a picture of say Harrison Ford you will be asked if you want to keep yours or accept the new one. Steve But if I have Steve Whatishisname in my local cast/crew db and he is not in the master headshots db, will it not delete Steve Whatishisname from my cast/crew db and delete him from all the profiles he is in? |

If you are asking, if actor "John Doe" is in your local database, but not in the Master Headshot db, then will the actor "John Doe" get deleted? Thus screwing up your local profiles. I would think the restore function would only add/modify existing actors. (I hope) | | | The Other DVD Forum Why do people who know the least know it the loudest? |
