| Posted: | | | | I'm always suspicious of polls like this, cos I get the feeling people tend to vote for the films they feel they should be voting for, rather than the films they enjoyed the most. And what the hell is Titanic doing on there? |

| Posted: | | | | Doesn't surprise me that Citizen Kane is still number 1 at all. It remains the single best film ever created. I might quibble over the placement of some of the titles in the list but in general, itlooks right to me.

| Posted: | | | | I can think of no other film that I can watch as repeatedly as I can Citizen Kane. I find the film entertaining, beautiful, and deep with meaning. The history of Welles future as a director and actor was set during this, his first film.
Definitely my favorite film of all time. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

I hope they're referring to the 1953 version of the film and not the tripe with Leonardo DeCrapio. There's 3 titles (that I've noticed) for which they don't specify the version. Titanic, Ben Hur and King Kong. | | | My 4x4 Club: Club FJ Cruiser Quebec DVDP Français: Forum DVD Profiler Français DVDCOL:DVD Collectors Online Video: LG RU-42PX10 Audio: Sony DreamSystem DAVFX100W | | | Last edited: by Touti |

Hmm, whilst I tend to agree I know I. for one, really enjoy some films which are absolute trash so, to a certain extent, it would not be correct to vote for ones you enjoyed most but those you thought were 'best'. For someone who just complained about people not voting for films they enjoyed most, and Titanic is a film that a lot of people (half the population it seems...) enjoy, I think you're trying to have this both ways! | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

Yup it is the 1997 Titanic, ..,,, I was super surprised that 59's Ben Hur came in so high,, Maybe we are all getting tired of Chuck and his National Rifle stance.... | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. | Posted: | | | | I was happy to see "Blade Runner","The Last Picture Show", "12 Angry Men", "All the President's Men", "Nashville", "The General" and "The Shawshank Redemption" get added to the list.
I was happy to see "Dances With Wolves", "My Fair Lady", and "An American in Paris" come off of the list.
Where is "Dog Day Afternoon", "The Sting", "L.A. Confidential", "Touch of Evil", and "Frankenstein"; and why is "The Sixth Sense" the only horror film (unless you count Jaws or Psycho), I can think of 10 more deserving?
All in all, a pretty good list: I own 75 of them; "Titanic" not being one of them... |

| Posted: | | | | I watched the show last night, it was interesting to hear actor's commentary on which movies were inspirational or why they loved them. I wonder how the list was formulated - does anyone know who is involved in the voting process? I'm also curious to what the original list of top 100 movies were - does anyone have that list? I own quite a few of the movies that made the list and will be adding more to my collection - as if I needed an excuse to buy more movies! |

| Posted: | | | | I think the latest list accurately reflects the opinions of the current members of AFI and a bit of marketing on the part of the studios/DVD companies. Although it's an excellent film, how else can you explain the addition of a title like Sunrise? Until the DVD release, it was a fairly obscure title which very few of us even knew about. If Fox hadn't released this to DVD, it would not be on the latest AFI list either. Just wait till "Wings" is released (same production year and silent too). People have a difficult time voting for a film they have never seen.
This list is not at all surprising to me and I think it's a reasonable representation of the top 100 American films. Of course, my list would be a bit different but I'm just one person. | | | Dan |

| Posted: | | | | It looks like I have about 50 of those. I have no problem with most of the changes. It's only some people's opinions, not an exact science. If they did it again next month, I'd expect the list to change slightly. And it's been 10 years. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here.
