| Posted: | | | | I know there are some users here more familiar with the long history of Doctor Who, so I'm asking for help:
My wife and I both grew up watching Tom Baker on PBS and now we really enjoy the new series. As an admitted nerd, I feel ashamed to admit that I don't know a lot about the gallopin' Gallifreyan's storied history but I'm keen to learn. So, I'm asking for a reference that puts the T.V. series in some kind of order (I'd say chronological but it's about a Time Lord, so time doesn't matter, heh?).
We'd like to buy the DVDs but what order do we watch them in? I could order them by incarnations of the good Doctor but that only takes it so far. I've looked at Wikipedia but I almost fell asleep because the history there was awfully dry.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

| Posted: | | | | Well this site is ok, a good place to start. http://www.gallifreyone.com/I too got hook in during the Tom Baker years and have been trying to find as many as possible of the DVDs. NetFlix has some, so watch a few from it. According to some post I have seen, some of the shows are lost due to a house cleaning at BBC for storage space. So sad. Have you seen the current spin offs? "Torchwood" and "Sarah Jane Smith" There are Older spin offs too.. Reply privately if you have any direct questions. |

Reply privately if you have any direct questions. I'd heard about them but haven't seen them. The U.S. takes a long time to catch on, if at all. The wife and I found three used but perfect Doctor Who DVDs this past weekend, each with an episode number. We both wondered what moron would sell a Doctor Who DVD but I'm not complaining. Thanks for the suggestions! | | | I was wise once; when I was born, I cried - Welsh proverb |

Peter Cushing played the Doctor in two films: Dr. Who and the Daleks and the one already mentioned Daleks' Invasion Earth: 2150 A.D. There was another stageplay in the early nineties ( The Ultimate Adventure) where Jon Pertwee returned as the Doctor, Colin Baker then took over from him, I think they did about four months each in the play. Also it's the type of TARDIS the War Chief; a renegade Timelord played brilliantly by Edward Brayshaw; builds for his boss, The War Lord in the classic Dr. Who story The War Games. | | | In the end; Winning is the only safety. I didn't - I have not been a Dr Who fan - We never saw any of it on TV that I know of. Sad, I know. I grew up hiding behind the settee (when I was a child I hasten to add..) watching Dr who. Have you seen the 'Blink' episode yet? I assume probably not - but try and watch this - apparently lots of children in Britain had to start hiding again.. | | | Paul |

So there you have it. My brain is officially full of crap. Fanboi mode on - you missed Richard Hurndall who played the role of the first Dr in the Five Doctors, as William Hartnell was no longer alive - fanboi mode off. I only say because you included Peter Cushing | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | frankly 'Blink' gave me the chills and i'm 26... it was one of the best episodes of the season IMO (sorry if this is a little off topic.) | | | That's the thing about racism, though, most of it is covert.
