| Posted: | | | | The film lists the following credits:
Based on the novel by: XYZ
And Dramatized By: ABC
As produced for the stage by: KLM
Screen Play By: FGH
The first and last are obvious: OMB and Screenwriter, respectively.
What about the middle two? | | | Hal | | | Last edited: by hal9g |

| Posted: | | | | If you wanted to, you could give ABC an OMB credit too (assuming the film is based on both the book and the play), but I wouldn't give KLM a credit, as he's a stage producer not a film producer. |

Get 'er done! I'm doing all I can. Been trying to talk Ken into it for the past 2+ years. The reality is, he will have to bite the bullet at some point and rewrite the entire database. I think he's just putting it off as long as possible. | | | Dan |

Why would they give KLM a credit in the movie, if the movie was not in some way based on the stage performance? I'm confused by your question - that probably is why he was given a credit in the movie, but does that mean he deserves a writing credit - I wouldn't have thought so? It wouldn't surprise me if the producer's film credit was more to do with rights than anything else. |

| Posted: | | | | I agree with northbloke, OMB for ABC, but nothing for the stage producer - he was a producer, not writer for the stage, and the credits give no suggestion he had anything to do with the writing of the film. | | | Andy

| Posted: | | | | Ah, but don't forget that the producer has a direct influence on the story line which is probably why his stage production is credited. As I suggested, OMB is appropriate and, in the current system, the only option available. | | | Dan |

| Posted: | | | | Produced for the stage, isn't a writing credit. This is a common credit for Movies that were based on a musical. This is the producer of the Stage Production. | | | Are you local? Often those stage productions are musicals based on the original stories. The movie, a musical based on the stage production, would have to credit the stage production because their film is based more on the stage production than the original story. This is why they are credited with the writing credits. | | | Dan | | | Last edited: by Dan W |

| Posted: | | | | If the credit said "as produced for the screen by Jerry Bruckheimer", would he get a writers credit? | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. However, I don't see "produced for the stage by" as a writing credit. The only reason I ask is that it appears on screen with the other "writing credits" which are all together on a single screen with no other type of credits. And it's in the middle of those credits. Just through association, it appears that the film makers are indeed giving the stage producer a "writing" credit. I'm not saying that means we should do so in DVDP....just making an observation. | | | Hal |
