| | Posted: | | | | I haven't seen any yet, but I have both Night Watch, and the sequel, Day Watch (assuming you really do mean the russian movie Dnevnoy Dozor), but my brother-in-law borrowed them both and loved every minute. He even said I should move them to my "watch very soon" list. |

I haven't seen Day Watch yet, but I guess one question would be.. have you seen Night Watch? I have seen it a few years back and just watched Day Watch on the weekend and got a bit lost as well, because I forgot some of the details that happened in the first one. Good plan... all the reviews/comments i've read say you will stand NO chance of following Day Watch if you haven't seen Night Watch. Unlike Hollywood films, these do not insult your intelligence with "recaps" of what happened during the first film. I actually re-watched Night Watch right before seeing Day Watch (second viewing of Night Watch made it ALL make perfect sense) and am really glad I did. I noted that in the first 10 minutes of the film they re-introduced no less than 4 characters from the first film with NO explanation of who they were or what they did previously. During the course of the film nearly ALL of the characters re-appeared and you had better know who they all are and what they're capable of. Day Watch had a bit of a cop-out ending for me, but I am holding out hope because there is a scheduled 3rd film that could blow that all away once again. | | Posted: | | | | UPDATE: I see the light!  "Day Watch" makes so much more sense now after watching "Night Watch". Like RHFactor said, there's no tie-in from "Night Watch" in "Day Watch" so the character's actions and powers made absolutely no sense and seemed ludicrous. After watching "Night Watch", which I liked by-the-way, I at least had a sense of the characters and could understand their motivations in "Day Watch". I'm looking forward to the third installment, which, if I understood the Director correctly, will take place somewhere in the U.S.? I appreciate everyone's responses. | | Posted: | | | | Glad you liked it, Max. I do love this series. Upon my second watching of the first film, I really loved it even more. The second film, loved what they did with the characters, disliked the ending. However, the very fact that there is a third film should rectify my dislike of that ending. I'm hoping they really turn that ending on its head instead. From what I've read, the third film, 'Twilight Watch', will be filmed in the US and I believe I even heard in English. It will really be different if that's the case. I've also read that while there are three films planned, there are actually four books.
