| | Posted: | | | | With all the hubub about people's reasons for red arrowing posts, I thought it might be interesting to find out your reasons for green arrowing. Personally I tend to only do it if I find the contents of a post helpful, interesting or newsworthy. Or if the author of the post went out of their way to provide some information or service. Other reasons I can see some of us use: if you agree with the opinion posted, or if you thought the post funny, or if the post backs up your argument in a disagreement, or... | | Posted: | | | | Most of my votes, I gave for contributions notes. Because I think, these are the most helpful things that users are able to make. (And i don't read so much in the forum  ) So it's possible, that a vote the contribution with 'no', but gave a green arrow for the notes |

I have, though, on occasion Greened a funny post that I felt really added to the camaraderie of the Forum.

The most is for informative posts or good solid answers to any questions I have posted, or even those which others have posted where I read the question and think "yeah, why is that?". Contructive cristism on my submissions are also worthy. Though I haven't done it yet (due to jumping right in and correcting ), some who leave me no votes with good solid notes pointing out a mistake will start getting them as well. |

It usually takes more than one of these reasons: I laugh, I agree with a minority view, the tone is delicately polite (not overly polite, i.e. not one that works very hard to say a nasty thing in a "polite" way), helpful -- especially in a clear concise way, I am moved by its honesty (even if it confesses to being distracted by forces outside the forum), a believable apology... all these are just some reasons why I green arrow a post, but not all. Like I said, it takes more than just one reason to reward... | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.
