| Posted: | | | | With all the hubub about people's reasons for red arrowing posts, I thought it might be interesting to find out your reasons for green arrowing. Personally I tend to only do it if I find the contents of a post helpful, interesting or newsworthy. Or if the author of the post went out of their way to provide some information or service. Other reasons I can see some of us use: if you agree with the opinion posted, or if you thought the post funny, or if the post backs up your argument in a disagreement, or... Well, I'm sure there's tonnes of reasons. And I'm interested to know yours. KM | | | Tags, tags, bo bags, banana fana fo fags, mi my mo mags, TAGS! Dolly's not alone. You can also clone profiles. | Posted: | | | | Most of my votes, I gave for contributions notes. Because I think, these are the most helpful things that users are able to make. (And i don't read so much in the forum ) So it's possible, that a vote the contribution with 'no', but gave a green arrow for the notes |

| Posted: | | | | Personally 95%+ of my Greens are for people who provide helpful and clear info in response to a question or (as you say) let everyone know about something newsworthy that is of use to the community.
I have, though, on occasion Greened a funny post that I felt really added to the camaraderie of the Forum.
I don't think I'd Green a post just for agreeing with me unless it specifically explained why I felt a particular way and the post put it better than I could! | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

| Posted: | | | | The majority of my positive vote are for a good answer to a question ask. I use it also if someone made a change to a profile who represent a lot of work (exemple : a TV seasons with all the cast & crew divide by episode). | | | Last edited: by Jimmy S |

| Posted: | | | | I tend to give my green arrows to those who answer questions in a polite and courteous manner. Since this is where I used to see most of the inappropriate posts, I want to reward those that make the effort to do it right. |

Yepp, that about covers it. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | Giving green arrows is very personal and individual. For me there are no simple objective reasons demanding for green or even red arrows. So, I'm only using the green ones, mostly for inspiring, helpful and even funny posts. To be honest, this depends very much on my mental condition as well | | | Thorsten | | | Last edited: by kahless |

| Posted: | | | | I don't have a set criteria. Anything that makes me smile or reflects positively upon the forum and its users will get a green arrow from me. I think if I set a specific criteria, I'll end up leaving out someone who has a post deserving of an area. | | | "I am Andrew Ryan and I am here to ask you a question: Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his own brow?
No, says the man in Washington. It belongs to the poor. No, says the man in the Vatican. It belongs to God. No, says the man in Moscow. It belongs to everyone.
I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose… Rapture." |

This pretty much covers me as well. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. | Posted: | | | | I give green arrows to people if they are nice (for good reasons) to me or others and helping or wise words are part of being nice. The opposite for me is being rude or disrespectful. | | | Martin Zuidervliet

| Posted: | | | | All my reasons have been covered already. The most is for informative posts or good solid answers to any questions I have posted, or even those which others have posted where I read the question and think "yeah, why is that?". Contructive cristism on my submissions are also worthy. Though I haven't done it yet (due to jumping right in and correcting ), some who leave me no votes with good solid notes pointing out a mistake will start getting them as well. |

| Posted: | | | | Like kahless & chibul, I have many reasons for chicking the green arrow. It usually takes more than one of these reasons: I laugh, I agree with a minority view, the tone is delicately polite (not overly polite, i.e. not one that works very hard to say a nasty thing in a "polite" way), helpful -- especially in a clear concise way, I am moved by its honesty (even if it confesses to being distracted by forces outside the forum), a believable apology... all these are just some reasons why I green arrow a post, but not all. Like I said, it takes more than just one reason to reward... | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.
