| Posted: | | | | Am I correct in assuming that as of yet you don't have the complete original Monty Python set? Since you own some Monty Python films, this might be something for you. As I've noticed, you have quite a bit of science fiction. A classic film I didn't see in your collection is Fritz Lang's Metropolis. Silent, but what a film! BTW: if you decide to go for this one, watch out which release you're picking! There are many versions, with large differences in quality and completeness. Hope this helps! | | | Last edited: by dee1959jay |

| Posted: | | | | The Boondocks season 1. A buddy of mine let me check his out last week, funniest show since Chappelle quit! Sam Jackson and Charlie Murphy voicing crazy wigger Gulf-vets is beyond priceless. Then again, BB is expensive for TV sets. Let it simmer and keep getting all your new releases for a month or 2. That's what I'd do, and order Boondocks online for cheap. |

Hope this helps! Thanks for the suggestions. I actually do own Metropolis, although it's part of a 9 title set on 3 discs. I am interested in the Monty Python Megaset though. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection | | | Last edited: by Bad Father |

| Posted: | | | | I has a $25 gift card, here is what I bought: I got the LCD and Harmony 1000 at Best Buy, got a new receiver (Yamaha RXV-1800) and the stand at American and the DVD player at Circuit City. Still waiting on my Panamax M5300PM to arrive to finish me off for 2008. Next addition will be high def, but since the war looks to be in it's closing stages with everyone jumping ship to Blue, one more year of waiting won't bother me. More to the point, I didn't see The Great Raid (789936-710656) in you collection. | | | Kevin |

| Posted: | | | | I see. However, if your version of Metropolis is part of a 12-title set, chances are that it's not the best release out there. The one I linked to in my original message is quite good, it seems. I happen to own this Region 2 version myself, which also seems to be among the best ones available, from what I've read. More on this topic can be found here. Other suggestions: - a Japanese anime SF film is " Ghost in the Shell". Although I personally only know this one (quite good), it seems that meanwhile there's a whole series that has been broadcasted. - InnerSpace- If you're into a SciFi comedy, try Earth Girls Are Easy with Geena Davis and Jeff Goldblum. - Perhaps Cypher? - The original Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a British TV series from the early '80s. - The original Solaris is a masterpiece by Soviet director Tarkovsky. - Pi might interest you as well. - A good version of The Day of the Triffids is this one. - A bit campy perhaps, but you might also like Barbarella, Queen of the Galaxy. - Fahrenheit 451? - If you feel courageous, try Delicatessen. - Finally an oldy you might like: Invasion of the Body Snatchers from 1956. The 1978 version seems to be OK too. Just avoid the new version called "The Invasion". OK, time for bed now. I hope all of this is of some use! | | | Last edited: by dee1959jay |

I've got several other Kino versions of silent films, and they results are usually of high quality. I remember having to watch Metropolis for one of my college classes in the late 60s (left-wing profs, etc.), but I was really impressed. I later watched the 1984 restoration (color tinted) with the Giorgio Moroder soundtrack - and was again impressed. According to IMDb, the color tinting was supposed to be according to Fritz Lang's original vision, but who really knows? I think I'm going to order a copy of Metropolis now. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges. | Posted: | | | | Don't forget to check Eureka's Master of Cinema collection version of Metropolis. It's up there with Kino and several people actually prefer it. They have been doing an excellent job of old film recovery on the MoC series.
