| | Posted: | | | | I've been looking into BG (Battlestar Galactica) and I wanna buy the first dvd of the whole serie, meaning the old serie, movie, miniserie, new serie etc. As far as I know now there is the serie (old) then the movie (which is basicly the first 3 episodes of the serie(old)) then then BG The mini-series came (as a preview for the new series) and then you got the new series (1 to 3 right now I believe) My direct question is about the old serie. I found these 2 dvdboxsets. There have been episodes in 1978 and in 1980 or so? Eitherway I asume if you clicked this topic and are still reading (ty then  ) you hopefully know a bit more about the next dvdboxes and what they contain exactly. The 2nd one has more runtime but less episodes? I thought it had more, I thought the 1978 one was missing a few or so. Be aware that a) the 1978 and the 2003 installments are totally independent of each other. They have similar basic setup and names etc., but they tackle the task very different. b) the 1978 is really, really old and some of it's flaws really stand out. I have bought it for the old times sake, but I'm not sure if someone who is new to it can bear that series. The only thing I would add is that the "Season One" DVD set of the new Battlestar Galactica series includes the 4 hour miniseries that began the current edition of the show. Except for a few small extras I believe the miniseries set you linked to doesn't contain anything new. So if you buy the "Season One" set and the currently released "Season 2.0", "Season 2.5", the movie "Razor", and the upcoming "Season 3" (March 2008) you'll have the complete new series (except for the final season 4 which begins airing later this year - 2008).

As long as the order and the correct dvd's are listed in the earlier post are good its all good. You are correct - I forgot that -- the UK version was actually sold at Best Buy in the US and I bought it but later sold it to a buddy so I could buy the more complete Season One set that included the miniseries. Thanks for pointing out my mistake.
