| | Posted: | | | | I've just moved from London, England, to Canada - I've got an all region DVD player so I've been keeping an eye on the UK DVD Bargains thread but the shipping to Canada is prohibitive, especially when you get stung for customs as well. So how about starting a thread for this side of the pond. USA & Canada DVD Bargains...... there has to be plenty out there, so far in the 4 months I've lived here I've shopped locally at HMV and Music City and online with www.deepdiscount.com - come on everyone start posting those fantastic offer you find, either locally or online. Not quite certain about other countries and shipping though. I've had positive experiences ordering there. DVDPacific.com are pretty cheap, and I've had pretty good experiences there as well. Many foreign buyers seems to prefer using them on other forums. I have to also recommend Movies4wholesale.com. Great service and products. No they don't have "everything", but damned good prices when they do. Mostly close-outs, OOP disc, overstocks, etc... but I have never received any flawed merchandise, it's all new and sealed with no cut-outs or any such marks on the packages. They also had some MGM titles in stock a few months ago.
But beware that some of these may have the UPC# gouged out.
Then of course you have Walmart with their $5 dump bin or if you're lucky yours will have them on shelves. Many OOP Paramount, Columbia titles can be found in there right now. Some Walmarts also have TV series 2 packs as does Target. |

Freecycle.
You just join the group that is in or close to your city and find stuff that people are giving away free.
I've managed to get a few free dvds free from people from my group including a sealed. mint TV season on DVD.
Usually you contact the people for a pickup date/time and usually people just leave the stuff out on their front porch/steps.

FYI: I actually joined the yahoogroup for my Freecycle group. But it looks like the freecycle site doesn't link to the associated yahoo group anymore. Strange.

Freecycle is my favorite, I check it several times a day. It's a great place to give things away as well as get things.
I've gotten things for myself as well as others. Some of the items I've received: Hundreds of books, dozens of DVDs, a scanner, dozens of items for my cats and dogs, a chaise lounge, like new clothes and toys for my niece and nephews.
Once you've been a member for a while, 2 weeks I think, you can request items you are interested in.
The goal of freecycle is to give things to others and decrease the amount of material that goes into landfills.
I have never been disappointed in anything I have received. I have had a few people not show up for something I was giving away but then I go to the next person on the list. |
