| Posted: | | | | Anyone who wants to feel like tearing their hair out and throwing things at their computer should try profiling Jean-Luc Godard's movies The Detective, Made in USA and Contempt. In these movies the names in the credits are, respectively, 1) firstnamemiddlenamelastname in ONE long name with no spaces, 2) initials only, and 3) spoken by the narrator. I almost don't want to watch the movies now after having profiled them! | | | Last edited: by Behemot |

| Posted: | | | | That is a beast I have not wanted to poke for some time. I think there are other films of his where the credits are last name only. Contempt, with the narrated credits, is the worst though. | | | ...James

| Posted: | | | | wait, so your saying that the credits don't scroll on the screen but are rather read off by a narrator? that's ridiculous I would think that common name is used in that case, but maybe we need to be able to attach an audio file for the credited as |

sounds interesting.. any recommendations as to which version is best? I'm not sure. I don't have it on DVD yet, and only remember what it was like when I saw it in the theater when it was first released in the US in the late 60s. I haven't seen it since then, and don't know what different versions are available. All IMDb (groan) says is: Quote: For the original U.S. theatrical release, distributor Grove Press dubbed the monologues (the garbagemen's piece on black revolution and the hippie's "ocean" poem) into English, although the rest of the film was in the original French with subtitles. A short credits sequence was also appended to the end of the film. So, I don't know what's on DVD. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole) Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. sounds interesting.. any recommendations as to which version is best? Here's a comparison of the available DVDs: http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=7800Looks like the UK DVD is better transfer-wise, whereas the US DVD has an added audio commentary. |

| Posted: | | | | BTW, can anyone confirm that Godard's "The Little Soldier" has NO credits at all? I've fast-forwarded through the first 13-14 minutes and the last 3-4 minutes TWICE now, but can't find any studios, cast or crew credits. It just opens with a black screen and the title LE PETIT SOLDAT in white letters, and ends with a similar screen with the word FIN - no credits in between, unless they are placed in the middle of the movie... |

I looked at that - and after looking around I couldn't find any currently available R1 dvd. So the problem was easy in the end - I just ordered the R2 from Play (£6.99 at the moment). | | | Paul |

Just wish they had a version that had the commentary AND good picture. But since I can't ever remember listening all the way through a commentary.. | | | Paul |
