Although I want a good movie/series, I voted for the image/sound.  Sure, I buy some public domain stuff that's rubbish, but I generally want the best version around, and will search high-and-low when needs-be.  That said, self-constraint (trying to save) has kept me from buying the equipment and media to get the maximum quality (so I'm still watching SD, and only occasionally upscaling... on someone else's hardware).

I will generally strive though for OAR and original language as A+ maximum priorities (when I remember to check).

I'd rank them as:
1. The movie always comes first, provided it's uncut and uncensored, and in OAR and OST.
3. Important, but I'll take what I can get.
2. Depending on the extras offered and the quality/interest of the movie.
5. The price factor.
4. I don't care for fancy packaging or plastic toys, I don't have space for them anyway. That said, I certainly appreciate a nice cover design without disturbing spelling mistakes, quotes and ratings.

With the majority of what I have in my collection : the most important thing is that the film is release.

Usually I prefer to have the movie uncut and in his original language (I've even one German film without subtitles and I don't speak German at all). Sure the quality of the print use is important, but a very used print can be a part of the charm too. If the movie came with some extra I'm always happy, but this is not that important and the majority of what I have is not release in x number of edition.

So my answer is the first option, not that the others options are not important. But when you love the genre of movie that I like you are just happy to own them and feel lucky that they exist today.

This was kind of hard for me, probably because (as usual) I'm overthinking it.

At first I was going to say Movie-Wise, because who cares how good it looks if the content is lousy.

I ended up going with Techie-wise, though, because if a movie I really care about (good content) is only available in pan-and-scan, I won't buy it.  So, I guess in the end the image and sound quality won out.

The packaging and extras, however, are relatively unimportant to me.  I put all my DVDs in changers and folders without the packaging when they arrive, and I save the bonus disks but never end up watching them.

1- MOVIEwise: I mostly want a good movie/TV series.
1B- Star/genre(eh)wise.... is it a genre or sub genre/actor/director/producer that i love (i may add cinematographer and editor here!)
2- EXTRAwise: Bonus features make the difference.
3- TECHIEwise: Best possible image and sound quality is essential.
4- PACKAGEwise: I love the nifty case, booklets and gadgets...
5- OTHERwise. Please say.
6ricewise.... ima student! and disabled

for me it is a combination of the above with one added step. first how much do i want the movie or series. then who is in it what genre etc. then the features/and tech: the the version out there is it a good version or is there another (ie predator i want the predator head but it is more affordable to have the SE collection) or is there one with a Surround sound dts (i think that's the better one lol!) the the extras and ofc price.... there are other things i think about but to keep it simple ill leave it there

My first option are that the Film must be exist in his original format , I'm really hate the pan and scan. Of course there are not many more,  a good luck.

Second : The Multi language and a good sound, since I like very much the classics one, I don't care about the 5.1 Sound. But it will not said that i'm don't like it.

And of course a good packaging are not excluded, but not an option to buy them

And at last I’m must like the film. .

There are not many option but that’s O.K for ME

I'm wondering if the number 1 position listed is worded the best it could be ., The poll so far is 6 to 1 in favour of the movie over number three which states Best possible picture and sound quality is essential.  I voted for the third choice as I am always on the lookout for a better picture ( anamorphic) and sound (5.1/DTS over Dolby surround )  any day .. Hands down.  I must have gone thru two dozen titles so  far when it comes to flipping and selling Older versions to Newer Collectors editions.

Can you  say  '2001 A Space Odyssey'  ?  I have updated this title at least 8 times in 25 years .. (three times on DVD ) Hopefully I'm finished .

I wonder myself, but as my excuse I can say it wasn't an easy task.
Of course we all love good movies. Of course we all prefer good quality over poor quality. Of course good quality alone doesn't change a bad movie into a good movie... That said, there are some people who give a lot of thought to technical aspects: they wait for the best possible edition before they buy a movie they care for and they will readily double-dip when a better edition comes out, if the wallet permits. They are Number 3 people.    Number 1 people instead would happily spend the same amount of money to own another good movie or TV series, most probably. They enjoy good image&sound as well as others do, but they don't feel as strongly as No.3's about technical perfection and have somewhat different spending priorities.

You definitely are a Number 3.    I think a Number 1 would have bought seven more good movies and updated 2001 just once if ever.
