First DVD Player was a Sony I think it cost me about $1000.00 same price in Canada and the US at the time.
That was at least 10 players ago now... | | | Blu-ray Enthusiast!!! |

(in retrospect not a great transfer to really appreciate the improvements of DVD over Laserdisc but it starred Gwenyth Paltrow! Never a bad thing.) | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! |

| Posted: | | | | I should remember the first DVD I ever bought, but the title escapes me.
What I do remember, though ... is coming home from the video store all excited, putting the DVD onto the player, sitting in front of my roommate's huge television with a bowl of popcorn ... and then ten minutes later, we looked at each other and said at the same time, "Gosh, this movie sucks!" So, we stopped the movie and that was that. | | | Watching the world, one DVD at a time... |

| Posted: | | | | I can remember most of the titles I bought on the same day I purchased my first player back in early '98: "The Fifth Element," "Spawn," "Austin Powers," "Con Air" and "Contact". There may have been another one, but I'm not positive. |

Bought it back in 1999 when it was first released and started building my collection from there. I'm fairly certain I had owned a DVD player prior to that and was mostly renting movies. But that was the first one I bought and what started it all for me. | | | "Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men" - Douglas Bader "A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools." - Douglas Adams |

| Posted: | | | | I honestly do not remember. All I can tell you is it was part of a package. I bought my 36 inch TV, my Sony DVD player and two or three movies. |

| Posted: | | | | I couldn't tell you for 100% certain, but the earliest I have a record for is Stargate SG-1, seasons 1&2 bought from Amazon at the same time...a big investment for me at the time. | | | Lori |

| Posted: | | | | The Matrix, bought it the same day I bought my player, a Yamakawa, one of the cheapest players to find (I think about DM 250,-) but one of the few who could play everything. | | | |
