| Posted: | | | | This morning I stumbled upon the below picture. First thought? "Surely a spoof. Maybe from The Onion." Then I Googled. snopes.com: Quote: Claim: Newspaper photograph shows a pregnant, cigarette-smoking woman worrying about the effect of construction noise on her unborn child. Status: True. It boggles the mind. There's even a follow-up from The Roanoke Times available online: http://www.roanoke.com/columnists/kennedy/wb/xp-11293Source for Snopes article: http://www.snopes.com/photos/signs/pregnant.aspKM | | | Tags, tags, bo bags, banana fana fo fags, mi my mo mags, TAGS! | Posted: | | | | Smoking during a pregnancy is not the end of the world. My mother had always smoke it's was not a problem then and me, my brother and my sister are perfectly normal. None of us had a third arm or ashtma or anything. Drinking during a pregancy is much more dangerous for the health of the future baby than smoking, but the cigarette is the devil now... |

| Posted: | | | | Maybe so. But the point isn't so much that she's smoking while pregnant, although I personally feel that's just irresponsible, but that she's claims to be concerned about the adverse effect road construction could have on her baby while puffing away. If you don't see the irony in that I guess I can't do much but shrug. KM | | | Tags, tags, bo bags, banana fana fo fags, mi my mo mags, TAGS! Dolly's not alone. You can also clone profiles. It wasn't a problem then because people didn't know it was bad for you. The same can be said of drinking while pregnant. Nobody knew what the side effects would be. Now we know. In addition, just because you and your siblings came out 'normal' doesn't mean it is safe. It only means you were lucky. For every person that doesn't have a problem, there are people that do. Not everybody dies in a game of Russian Roulette...does that mean it isn't dangerous? If people want to play Russian Roulette with their unborn babies health, I guess it is their right. But please, let's not pretend that isn't exactly what they are doing. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | People knew smoking was bad for when I was kid and that was seven decades ago. It is new it is just a bunch of lawyers found a way to make money on it.
If you want to worry about something try the 80,000 pollutants we've crested and 1200 new ones each year. The antibiotics and drugs that get dumped in the water system that are not tested for. Streams that were free over 30 ywars age, 80% are new polluted.
Worry about the plastic bottles of water that set in hot weather and petroleum from those bottles that seep into that water.
Half of the food the US consumes is now imported, and where do the chemical companies are dumping chemicals they can't sell here in the US.
I think about that while I smoke my pipe. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. Ineptocracy, You got to love it. "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." - Abraham Lincoln |

(...) I think about that while I smoke my pipe. This is rationalization I just don't get. If you are concerned about all those other things, why would you smoke? There are 599 additives approved by the US Government for use in the manufacture of cigarettes. When burned, according to most sources, those additives create 4000 chemical compounds, many of which are toxic and/or carcinogenic. Cigarette smoke contains forty-three known carcinogens. Don't get me wrong, I don't care if you smoke. It just rings hollow, when someone who pumps those kinds of chemicals into his body on a daily basis, tells me I should worry about all that other stuff. JMHO. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. I think what he means is that compared to the things that get done to us (and the world in general), the things we do to ourselves are hardly worth mentioning. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! Hell, give enough of anything to a lab rat and it'll develope cancer And, if we trust our tv and newspaper, everything on earth give cancer. So why stop doing something that is a pleasure for me, since I have 90% chance to die from cancer anyway with our without tabacco. |
