| Posted: | | | | I just went to watch this movie. Man, was I disappointed. It has nothing to do with X-Files at all. It's just about the FBI trying to find some abducted women. It even looks like it was made for TV. From the whole Production Value standpoint there were episodes that looked 10 times as good. And this movie cost 35 Million $. I wonder where that money went. I guess 10 for each off the two stars, a bunch for chris carter and the rest... Well, I honestly don't know.

| Posted: | | | | I haven't seen it - and I do not intend to. Movies made from TV-series are seldom good IMO, and after watching the first X-Files movie, I decided never to put myself in agony again. What were they thinking anyway?! It's out there? | | | Berak

| Posted: | | | | Compared to the 2nd one the first one was one of the best movies ever made. If you already disliked the first you can guess how good the 2nd is. But you can't compare these movies. The first one was about the x-files mythology and the 2nd one was just a regular thriller. | | | Check out my Youtube channel under https://www.youtube.com/user/alittleolder |

In principle I agree, but I would consider this ambivalent. Some movies from TV series are pretty good. E.g. some Star Trek movies, the movies from Space Center Babylon 5, The Simpsons. Spongebob etc. I'm convinced, that the motive of releasing movies from TV-series is mostly to squeeze the last Cent out of it. | | | Thorsten | | | Last edited: by kahless |

Have any of you seen this movie? Did you like it? Actually, yes, I just did today. This one is very much like what most of the X-File episodes were like, and that is what made the show as good as it was. "X-Files" were not just about alien abductions, and black eyeballs, and buried spaceships. An X-file was any file that was too weird for one reason or another, too outside the box, for regular agents to solve. This story had a lot of the same 'creep' factor that made so many of regular episodes cult classics. In addition, Mulder and Skully finally got together. I enjoyed it. | | | John

| Posted: | | | | Indeed X-Files wasn't about only the myth arc, the super-soldier arc and so on. It got more. But. You don't make a first movie after 6 years the show went off the air, showing just a "standalone" episode extended to 90-something minutes, made with a bigger budget. It doesn't hold.
If they're having in mind to make more movies like this, they have to add something specific, out-of-the series elements, to make it interesting. Otherwise it's fit for straight-to DVD/Blu-Ray, not for the big screen. Gillian Anderson comes up on top this time because her character is given more to work with, to show more insight which is fitting given the time that has passed. By comparison Mulder pencils-on-the-ceiling is too much of "and now we're going to do the same thing again". Mulder should've carried more weight, more self-respect for the quests he's still on, less justification like it was Season 2 or something. Scully's challenging him with a genuine 10-years-later stance. He is just... not at the same level.
And nice cameo towards the end for certain somebody. Somehow I missed reading that he is in the movie. | | | Last edited: by unimatrix01 |

I'm convinced, that the motive of releasing movies from TV-series is mostly to squeeze the last Cent out of it. It certainly seemed that way. They used the name "X-Files" to create something that has nothing to do with the show at all.. Also there were some plot holes.. I read an interview with "Chris Carter" shortly before the release and he said "Prepare to see Mulder and Scully like you never seen them before"? What did he mean? Maybe them being completely boring. Because they've never bored me before | | | Check out my Youtube channel under https://www.youtube.com/user/alittleolder |

I previously states that if you don't expect anything that connects to the x-files from the movie you can indeed be enjoyed. BTW: Mulder and Scully got together way before this movie. Don't you agree that this movie could just as well have been a TV Special? I had to spend $26 for my girlfriend and me to see it. If they had in anyway hinted that this would be just another thriller, I might not have expected so much. Most of the non "Mythology" Episodes still had some paranormal things about it. This one only had a pedophile ex-priest. I didn't say that the movie was bad, just that they shouldn't put the X-Files logo infront of it. He said there would be no aliens or conspiracies. This movie was more like an episode of Chris Carters other show "Millennium".. which I really enjoyed back then | | | Check out my Youtube channel under https://www.youtube.com/user/alittleolder |

There was more to the show than super soldiers and black oil but still.. 100 minutes of watching them looking around in the snow ... You are right. The only thing I really liked was the appearance of a certain somebody. Yet, he should have been included more in the movie. I liked Xzibit as Agent "Drummy".. he was kinda cool | | | Check out my Youtube channel under https://www.youtube.com/user/alittleolder |

Because there were a lot of two parters of the show that had way better production values than this movie. I am not even sure if it will break the $35 Million domestically. It'll still sell well on DVD/Blu Ray. Just because it says X-Files. I am already thinking about buying or not buying it. I have all episodes, the movie.. so just to have everything.. I guess there are a couple of people out there who think the same way. So in the end counting DVD Sales it will earn a little money | | | Check out my Youtube channel under https://www.youtube.com/user/alittleolder |

| Posted: | | | | When I mention the New X-File movie I always refer to it as, "X-Files: I want to believe that the amount of drugs involved in the decision to make this film equals all that were used in the 60's"
Of course I also refer to the new Indiana Jones film as, "Indiana Jones and the Search for Medicare".
So maybe I am a bit jaded.

One that involves the storyline of 2012. Which was mentioned in the last episode of the show. When the mobilization of the aliens begins. That would be awesome.. But not another movie where they just run around in the snow.. Production Value wise I figured: It cost $35 Million. That's $10 million for each Duchovny and Anderson. 5 for Carter. That leaves about $10 for the movie. I looked like that anyway. There were a lot of two-parters that had better production values than this movie. I am just mentioning PV, because there were no special effects in this movie. | | | Check out my Youtube channel under https://www.youtube.com/user/alittleolder |
