| Posted: | | | | Did anyone watch this? I thought it was pretty darn good It's not quite as cheesy as the bits I'd seen of the previous seasons and was fairly dark in places especially at the end when Spoiler: (Select to view)Jack sacrifices his grandson to defeat the 456. And the fact he actually stays dead One of the only minor quibbles I had with the show was Spoiler: (Select to view)the way they killed(?) the alien. It just seemed a bit contrived. When Gwen kept going on about The Doctor I thought he might have turned up at the end to sort things out I think I'll end up watching the first two seasons to see how they compare. |

Yes & likewise thought it was a decent storyline. Quote:

Spoiler: (Select to view)Indeed I was half expecting him to have inherited Jack's healing ability. Quote:

Spoiler: (Select to view)I'm glad that he didn't turn up. He'd have found a way to allow everyone to live while still defeating the 456. Quote:
I think I'll end up watching the first two seasons to see how they compare. They're completely different. While some stories are connected, most are self contained episodes. |

| Posted: | | | | My sister hasn't watched the series and she really enjoyed CoE.
Personally I think this was the best TW yet.
I watched it when it aired here and a few days later I watched it again when my BD arrived! |

| Posted: | | | | Okay, I think I am big trouble now. Sounds like I am going to have to catch up on Dr. Who, and Torchwood: COE seems to lead to Season (Series) Three

| Posted: | | | | Skip, in the UK, a 13 show season is the norm, but this was done as a "one week" fast story (not made fast, but to run fast with high speed pace)
However, we in the UK look at 24/26 shows seasons as "wow"
Torchwood is of course an anagram of Doctor Who, and was used by Russell T Davies as the code name for the 1st season of the "new" Dr., so that people would not know, thus keeping leaks at bay for as long as possible.
Then, he thought.... "what a great name"
and the rest is history
so, for the whole family, it is Dr. Who the more teenage/adult watchers, have the Dr. and Torchwood and the younger kids can watch The Sarah Jane Adventures | | | Signature? We don't need no stinking... hang on, this has been done... blast [oooh now in Widescreen] Ah... well you see.... I thought I'd say something more interesting... but cannot think of anything..... oh well And to those of you who have disabled viewing of these signature files "hello" (or not) Registered: July 27, 2004 |

| Posted: | | | | So is there a Season (Series) Three. Here in the states way back when, Seasons ran in the high 30s, then they dropeed down to the low 30s and have gradually stepped down over the years to the point that now 13 is considered a full season. By that standard if Torchwood: COE is a part of Series Three ther should be 8 more shows on the way. Or is COE going to wind up being some sort of bridge to a full Seris three.

| Posted: | | | | Torchwood:CoE is all there is of 'Season Three', it was run as a 5 part storyline over Monday to Friday night here, firsttime on BBC1 too and in a prmetime slot, the veining figures were I believe very good.
Keep with it Skip it's gets even Better, the discussions later on in COBRA brought a shiver down my spine.

| Posted: | | | | Love the new Doctor Who, haven't really got into Torchwood (yet).
And I've never seen an episode of the old series (pre-2000) series. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

Only question is does Martha Jones make and appearance at some point in the 5 parts? As it's not a spoiler I'll answer...'fraid not. It is explained why Martha isn't in it. @Skip As yet there is no definite word of a Season 4 of Torchwood. Russell T Davies has stated that he has Season 4 planned out but they were waiting for the viewing figures of CoE to come in before it was decided (I got that off the 'net). When TW first started I wasn't overly impressed. The first couple of episodes seemed a bit silly and going for the 'shock' value rather than good writing. I subsequently stopped watching. However, my partner decided to buy Series 1 when it was in a sale and we watched the whole thing over a couple of days and absolutely loved it. It really does get better as it goes on. Also...regarding the whole short season thing...Dr. Who isn't having a traditional Season 5 this year, either. Instead we're getting 4 'specials'; of which, two have aired (The New Doctor and Planet of the Dead). Two more will air later in the year; culminating with David Tennant leaving and the new guy taking over. Then a full season will happen next year. |

| Posted: | | | | They have only shown one of the 'specials' so far 'Planet of the Dead' the next one 'The Waters of Mars' I think is planned for November with the last two for the crossover to the new Doctor poss Christmas Day/New Year, Steven Moffat takes over the helm from RTD for a proper Season '5' in 2010
