Congratulations EDIT: If I count correctly that makes him the fourth President of the USA to win this prize. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

He had been in office for just under two weeks when the deadline for nominations passed. There was a decision period on top of that. I keep telling people to not blame Obama for this. From what I read, they awarded it to Obama for the hope he gave people. I've got nothing against Obama, and I suspect he was just as surprised as everybody else when he won. |

I think this quote from Times Online says it best: Quote: Mr Obama’s is a fourth and perfect example of what Nobel scholars call the growing aspirational trend of Nobel committees over the past three decades, by which awards are given not for what has been achieved but in support of the cause being fought for.
Defending the choice, the committee chairman made clear that this year’s prize fell in that category. “If you look at the history of the peace prize, we have on many occasions given it to try to enhance what many personalities were trying to do,” Thorbjørn Jagland said. One could argue back and forth whether giving the prize in support of a cause is right or wrong, but at least it helps explain the reasoning behind the prize being awarded at this time. I in fact think this shows more racism than anything else.
He can talk good with his catch phrase he stole from Bob The Builder (kids show in the British Isles)
But he frankly sucks as does the whole political system in the US. A 14 trillion dollar economy that's about a quarter of the worlds wealth and can't seem to find away to fund any form of bring universal health care.
Tiny Scotland 200 billion dollars has free health care and moving back to free university education. Collage is free here and students get paid money to buy extra books stationary and and transport costs to.
That's just a couple of examples. They should have given Alex Salmond the prize. For 30 years he fought to reform the SNP into a modern socially democratic party into an electable force that would bring Scottish Independence to front of the Scottish politics.
He's giving more than hope. He is giving us a free Scotland where we can grow our economy and build the policy's that will make us strong society.
