| Posted: | | | | Headshot Database v5for DVD Profiler 3.5.1 & 3.6 This collection of headshots has been broken up into multiple files due to it's large size and for ease of importing. The first three files contains 10,000 headshots, the PR-Z file 8,997 headshots, and the Crew file 3,000 headshots. The database is in DVD Profiler 3.5 format. | Posted: | | | | How to Restore DatabasesWith DVD Profile running, click on File > Restore DatabaseIn the new window, click the Browse button and navigate to where you saved the dpb files you downloaded and select one. Then click the Next button. In the next window, the default option is to review each headshot that differs from the one in your database. If you prefer to accept all updates without review, change "Let me compare" to "Replace existing". If you want to only accept headshots that you do not have, change "Let me compare" to "Leave existing". When restoring the Cast databases, take whatever percentage displayed in the tool bar and multiply it by two. This is your true progress through the file (50% and up represents crew which are not in the cast db's). Important Note: DVDP 3.6 beta build 1302 does not prompt you to compare headshots and overwrites your existing ones. | | | Last edited: by Dr. Killpatient |

| Posted: | | | | How to Update and Contribute HeadshotsUpdating HeadshotsDouble-click on the Cast or Crew member you want to update in a profile. This opens up a new pop-up window with that person listing every profile in your database that they're also in. At the top of the window is a box containing their existing headshot or the text "Drag an image here". You can do just that - drag it from another window - or right-click on it and select Paste if the photo is already in your copy-n-paste buffer. When browsing for potential headshots, larger is better. You can optimize the headshot by first opening it in the photo editor software package of your chose and cropping the image to just above their head and just below their collar bone - don't worry about the left or right sides, leave them alone. When you drop the image into DVDP, it'll let you scroll the image left or right to fit the headshot in the frame. Contributing Headshot DatabasesCredit to cvermeylen: Add a manual profile to your database Add by title - deselect "Download profile from Invelos". Call the profile Headshots When you update a headshot, add it to the Headshots profile (for crew, just use director for every member, don't loose your time by selecting the correct role). When you are done. Make a full backup of your database. Create a new database, called HMDB. Open the new database, and perform a restore with the following options: Select "Restore Specific Profiles" and select only the Headshots profile. Deselect "Replace Full User Database" Perform a database repair with the following options: Select "Custom" Deselect "Preserve cast/crew with images" This will remove all castmembers except those attached to the Headshots profile. Now perform a database backup and select only "Include cast/crew databases, with photos". Sharing Headshot DatabasesIf you do not have your own web site hosting server, there are many free services out there such as RapidShare or MediaFire. Post a link to it in this thread. If you want your database to be part of v6, please upload it here. Please include your User Name as part of the file name. For example: wombat_march_2010.dpb Important Notes:You may also upload full HS databases (not just your updates) but I will only accept headshots that do not exist in my master database and will not review updates. Please do not contribute databases if you include unvalidated Birth Years or nudes. (You can start your own HSDB collection for those if you wish.) | | | Last edited: by Dr. Killpatient |

| Posted: | | | | What is a headshot? A head shot is a front-on (facing straight at the camera) photograph, with the face being the center of the picture and containing minimal, neutral, or no surroundings. The facial expression is usually neutral. The entire head with hair should be visible and should be cropped no lower than the collar bone.
Age A headshot should be taken when the person was last active. If an actor hasn't worked in film for 40 years, their headshot should be from when they were active - 40 years ago, not a recent one. If you find someone where the database has a recent headshot and they're not active in film, please replace it with one from the time they were active and be sure to note it when you contribute it.
Size matters The larger the source photograph, the higher the quality will be in DVDP.
Size doesn't always matter If the existing headshot is large but not a traditional headshot (ie: looks like they're trying to fit their entire body into the frame), a much smaller and traditional headshot will be accepted.
Screen Caps A screen cap will never be accepted over a traditional headshot unless it is superior in quality.
Backgrounds If two headshots are of comparable quality but the background in one makes it harder to see the hair or form, the other will be accepted.
Text A crappy headshot will be accepted over any headshot with text or writing on it. Important note: Text that is part of the background such as from a star walk is acceptable. Any headshot will be accepted if it replaces one with a copyright. | | | Last edited: by Dr. Killpatient |

| Posted: | | | | How I evaluate headshots.... Here, both high quality headshots. The one on the right is accepted because a more recent photo will be accepted over one depicting them from a younger age. The only exception to this is if the actor or actress hasn't been in any movie since their younger photograph was taken. This should be documented with your contribution. When I evaluate the headshots, I have to decide which photo makes a better headshot. Here, the right photo is the better headshot even though it's much smaller. Though if the left photo was cropped no lower than the lower ribcage, it would have been accepted. Here is an example of an over crop. A lot of the headshots I'm reviewing is of the same photo, just cropped closer to the face. In this case, the left shot is a perfect headshot. A headshot is also known as a bust shot and shouldn't crop right around the head. | | | Last edited: by Dr. Killpatient |

It's at 45% into the first file. |
