| Posted: | | | | Actually I don't think too many people watched Leno at all which is why his show was being cancelled in the first place. His ratings were horrible (talking of his new show). In my opinion Leno is being given quite a lot of crap but at the same time, he could easily just have turned them down and let Conan keep his time slot. I think that's where the anger comes from especially since Conan turned the shift to later down with reasoning of it being unfair to Jimmy Fallon (this could have just been a lie, but it did also make Leno seem like a jerk for not doing the same). Personally I haven't watched any late night TV for a long time but when I did, I loved Conan. I think he'll be better off leaving NBC for Fox though (which is what people are thinking he'll do). I think a network like Fox more matches his audience and style of humor. So to answer the OP, yes I'm with COCO! | | | "The perfect is the enemy of the good." - Voltaire |

| Posted: | | | | I don't normally watch late night TV, but Leno DID screw Conan.
Here Leno's announcement back in 2004, he did pretty much did everything he said he wouldn't.

Leno didn't force NBC to make Conan leave, he could have lived up to his word and stepped aside. He didn't, simple as that. | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server | | | Last edited: by DoubleDownAgain |

| Posted: | | | | It is my understanding that the affiliates wanted Leno back after the news. While Leno could have said no, it wouldn't have solved the problem...viewers not watching the news prior to the Tonight Show. Had Conan kept the viewership that Leno had, there wouldn't have been a problem, but he didn't. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | It all started with Leno. He got crappy ratings which led to crappy ratings for local news which lead to crappy ratings for Conan.
Did NBC put a gun to Leno's head and make him take the Tonight Show back? What would have the affiliates have done if they didn't replace Conan? Nothing... But if they would have kept Leno at 10 PM they would have lost some affiliates. The cause behind this was Leno who reneged on his deal to retire. If he didn't want to retire he shouldn't have signed the deal in 04 and promise the Tonight Show to Conan. Sure Conan didn't have the best ratings but he deserved more than 7 months to prove himself especially with the fiasco known as the Leno Show which impacted his ratings. | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

| Posted: | | | | I'm with Coco as well. Leno was OK on The Tonight Show, but the Jay Leno Show is rarely any good. His monologue is terrible, and "10 at 10" is also a waste of time. Some funny bits, but not enough to keep me watching.
Conan, on the other hand, gets better every day. And he deserved more than 7 months to prove it, especially considering the late night shuffle at NBC last year. And it does seem unfair to Conan. Hopefully he'll get another show on another network. | | | |
