Interesting.  I've seen most of these.  The only one I wouldn't see is St. Michael's "This Is It".  I was never really a fan.

I was actually pretty hesitant to put that on there but I needed something music related to balance things out.

I'd add "Overnight" as a tale of how not to be and what not to do if getting a big break in anything.

And Religious as it's fun(ny) while giving you something to think about.

I would point out the what the bleep series is complete cowpie meant to flummox people who don't know anything about quantum physics. I would recommend Murderball in the sports category and American Movie for Entertainment.

Love the Addition of Z Channel: A Magnificent Obsession.  This is one of my favorite docs.

A few more Entertainment-themed ones:

Henri Langlois: Phantom of the Cinematheque
  A Decade Under the Influence
Not Quite Hollywood: The Wild, Untold Story of Ozploitation
A Personal Journey with Martin Scorsese Through American Movies

Social Issues:

Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills and Paradise Lost 2: Revelations

Probably two of the best, anger inducing documentaries I've seen.

That is a great documentary. It goes nicely with "Chasing Ghosts: Beyond the Arcade" (if you can find it).

Indeed. And to think these guys are still in jail/on death row....

Same category (the anger inducing variety): Deliver Us From Evil and Jesus Camp. I had to stop the latter 4 times to compose myself.

On another note, the last few years a lot of documentaries have been made about metal, heavy metal, hard rock and such.
Metal: A Headbanger's Journey. Highly recommended, even if you don't like the music.
Global Metal
Heavy Metal in Baghdad
Anvil: The Story of Anvil
Get Thrashed: The Story of Thrash Metal
Iron Maiden: Flight 666
And ofcourse, the infamous Heavy Metal Parking Lot

Other music documentaries that I really like:
Shut Up & Sing. The backlash against the Dixie Chicks. Highly recommended.
Rock School. The inspiration for School of Rock, with Jack Black. Teenage kids playing Zappa music!
Standing in the Shadows of Motown
Young @ Heart. A choir of senior citizens  (the youngest is 72 I think) who sing punk, rock and pop songs. Heartwarming!
New York Doll

Other documentaries that impressed me:
Harlan County USA
Spellbound
Être et avoir
Johan Cruyff: En un momento dado. And I don't even like football (that's soccer for you, Americans).

I'd highly recommend this PBS documentary about the famous wolf "Lobo" of the 19th century and his legacy championed by Ernest Thompson Seton. It's a beautiful and sad tale. All the more relevant today, as ignorance of the wolf is unfortunately still widespread in this country.

The Wolf That Changed America: The Photographs and Artwork of Ernest Thompson Seton
