Sunset Boulevard
A film to this day people say is the definitive film about Hollywood and one of the 100 best blah blah nonsense. At the time for a mainstream film this was something different and edgy and for the first about 30 mins or so it builds it self up nicely to only descend into contrived melodramatic nonsense.
Classic? Not after 60 years have gone past and don't get me wrong i love many older films but as i argue a lot the 70's and the explosion of independent film making which redefined genres and left a lot of the films of the past dated.
A better film about Hollywood by far Robert Altman's The Player. |

| Posted: | | | | All films are simulaneously overrated and underrated. If a person loves a film, no praise could ever be high enough. If the same person cannot abide a film (no matter how good or bad) any praise makes it overrated. I see no reason to get into a wizzing contest with amateurs on "overrated" films. Film Alba and I have spent far too much time over films I consider good verses his sense of lousy to continue this.
I like Sunset Boulevard and find the concept of a film narrated by a corpse hilarious. Your mileage may vary (and obviously Film Alba's does).
Enjoy this thread; I think I might bow out. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

If for you a film is overrated or not mainly depends on whether you liked it or not. ... I simply hate Titanic and come to that, I consider "Pearl Harbor" to be an eyesore too. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! I can appreciate what Kane did for film, but holy hell what a boring movie to suffer through.
