It seems like a business move to first release the theatrical version and then at some point the extended one. But after watching the DVDs recently, I realized just how bad they look. So I'll pick them up. | | Posted: | | | | As for me, the one who opened this thread, I own the Extended Versions in the pretty expensive packages with bookends or figures or whatever and will most likely not buy the theatrical version.. Maybe if they are on sale for like $30.. Still there are a bunch of movies that came out on Blu in the wrong version (e.g. "Live free or Die Hard").. And in the case of my example the correct Version still hasn't been released.. Even though the normal one has been on the market for about 3 years... I know that that's not the same.. Warner is especially "evil" when it comes to double tiping.. Like "Natural Born Killers" and then they released the Dir. Cut only a few months later.. Or to a lesser extent they released "Grumpy Old Men" on BD and then released a combo of part 1 & 2 which gives the owner of the first release no chance to purchase only Part 2, and one has to pay for Part 1 again.. | | | | Check out my Youtube channel under https://www.youtube.com/user/alittleolder |

Sure, the extended cuts are nice but it was the originals I watched in excitement in the theater after waiting all those years. | | Posted: | | | | I have the fancy extended editions too, with the bookends and statues (and they've been on top of my entertainment center since their release) and I've watched them at least once a year since they came out. AFAIC, there's no reason to watch the theatrical release - I could just be watching the extended edition.
