I asked about if a thread like this was okay a while ago and the powers that be didn't say it wasn't, so I assume that it is. Ken/Gerri/Invelos, definitely delete if not cool.

On some other boards I frequent, there are threads devoted to contests and competitions that I have won DVDs and stuff by entering, and I didn't see one here, so here you go.

HorrorTalk.com is having an Arrow Video Argento contest. The prize is a copy of The Card Player and Terror at the Opera. The contest is open world wide, but if you live outside of the UK you are going to want a region free player.

Also, if you join the Cult Labs forum (host to all the news concerning Arrow Video's and Shameless Screen Entertainment's releases) they run a competition every week whereby you can win a free DVD.

If you do join feel free to, ahem put me down as the referrer.

I really don't get the whole obsession with horror films. Argue if you want escapism nostalgia it still don't change the fact the majority of them are full clichés predicable story arch's and are devoid of any intellectual merit.

That only shows how little you know about the horror genre.

Im partial to some but i have my limits. I like the Re Animator films Dawn of The Dead and some European horror. But some of the B stuff that comes out from the states i really don't get what the big deal with that is.

+ 1,000.

Writing off an entire genre shows your lack of knowledge on the subject.

Night of the Living Dead, a B-movie of its time, was both a statement on society (as much as Romero denies it is ) and one of the most influential films in the genre.

And most movies are cliché ridden. There are very few that are original. To think differently, you are only fooling yourself.

I said the majority of horror films not all of them. Im fan of Dawn of The Dead. But more so than most other genres across the world and not just in Hollywood or American film making. Horror has many clichés and predictable story arch's. While a genre like Drama might have more clichés in American cinema certainly these days any way. You find it in other parts of the world it to be more evolutionary and far more flexible in bringing elements of other genres into it.

So i make the choice do i want to devote most of my time to genre that offers little chance of originality or explore something which is constantly changing from film to film.

Again just showing you know so little about the genre.

Edit: but this is a thread for contests and competitions. I suggest we leave it as that.

The studio canal one sounds interesting. And if your taking about that Australian film called Road Kill renamed Road Train over here.

Then i can't blame you from wanting to give them away
