| Posted: | | | | On April 5, 1868, a Mr. Bacon and his dog had their portrait made at the studio of R. Knecht of Easton, Pennsylvania. Mr. Bacon wrote a question under the image: "When shall we three meet again." A note on the back shows that the question is intended for a lady, Miss Hannah Knight. It's a great image, and the question still hangs in the air after 140 years - did Miss Knight and Mr. Bacon reunite? Or did she insist on a bit of a beard trim, first? | Posted: | | | | Sorry, no pigs yet, but two non-descript birds instead. It's a matchbox label. Used to collect 'm when I was 7 or 8. Anyone else did? Thinking of a pic of a winged pig, must be somewhere. |

| Posted: | | | | When I tried to start this thread I did this because there are already several "funny" threads so for once it's no obligation to post funny stuff, but it's not 'verboten' of course. I think of the first one, the Hemingway one as an example. It is an intimate picture, just like the second and third one (tin types from the Smithsonian btw). It would be nice to have a thread with film posters too, but alas, in this case people seem to be in favour of posting what they call "mash ups", I think. |

| Posted: | | | | Saw these on Panabasis, the Journal of the Janus Museum (text: webmaster Tibor Szégy-Légy. Proves that not apes are "related" to us, but cats. Look at those eyes....). 1 August - I Ponder as I Wander Much cooler than last week at this time, so we ventured into the Museum's Forest Preserve for a bracing catwalk. But catwalks are rarely bracing - sustained activity not being a catly attribute - so there was a fair amount of setting and meditating, as Nutmeg and Maxine demonstrate above. Natasha continues to ponder. Then we all went home for a snack and a nap. | | | Last edited: by railroaded |
