| Posted: | | | | Weekend Movie MarathonThe Final FrontierI have always been a fan of the Star Trek franchise. Even though I only ever seen a small portion of the franchise. Including the films. I have never seen the first 3 movies... and I am unsure about movies 5 & 6. I only seen probably half of the original series... about 3 seasons of TNG... and all of Enterprise when it comes to the series. I would buy everything Star Trek if it wasn't for the price still being too expensive. Luckily a friend gave me the entire original series. Plus all 10 of the original movies (I already have the reboot movie from last year).Since I haven't seen many of the movies... I decided to make this my movie marathon for this weekend. I plan on watching all 11 movies. I normally don't get that many movies in on a weekend. So I may be starting this weekend's movies on Thursday instead of the normal Friday. So this weekend I am planning on watching...Movie List:- Star Trek: The Motion Picture - Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan - Star Trek III: The Search for Spock - Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home - Star Trek V: The Final Frontier - Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country - Star Trek: Generations - Star Trek: First Contact - Star Trek: Insurrection - Star Trek: Nemesis - Star Trek (2009) | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Cool, have fun with these. I watched the original Star Trek movies (1-6) over the course of 3 days to review. Be interested to see what you think of the original. |

Agree with this...except that I did watch, and thoroughly enjoyed, the new film. The new one was excellent, though I guess some hard core fans had many issues with it... But personally, I thought it was a clever reboot. |

| Posted: | | | | I've been wanting to do this, but I'm missing 2 on dvd-the Motion Picture and the Final Frontier (though I do have them on vhs, but it's not quite the same). Been a Trekkie ever since I can remember...my dad knew how to start us young.
Voyage Home is one of my favorites...though the Next Generation ones are all good too, but that may be because that's what I mainly watched growing up.
I expected to dislike the new one, but ended up really enjoying it and liking how it made it ok for there to be a new crew within the traditional framework of the Star Trek universe.
Have fun watching! | | | Lori |

I have seen the new reboot movie. And I enjoyed it a lot! Quoting Voltaire53: Quote: Hope you have a great time watching these; which version of TMP are you going to watch? | Posted: | | | | I recommend that you watch the episode Space Seed before watching The Wrath of Kahn.
It is not absolutely necessary, but it does provide some background for the conflict between Kirk and Kahn. | | | Hal | | | Last edited: by hal9g |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks Hal... I will be sure to. I am working my way on the original series now. In air date order. I don't see myself getting to it in time to watch the movie tomorrow... so I will just jump ahead for that one. | | | Pete |

Fortunately, Star Trek: TOS was not a "serial" TV show, so watching them out of order really doesn't matter. | | | Hal |

Space Seed is a must watch before Kahn. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. | Posted: | | | | I just upgraded my entire ST movie collection to BD. Am looking forward to a marathon at some stage.
I find the Motion Picture to be a drag to watch. Lucky it did not kill off the franchise. But from 2 onwards it was the ST we know and love. I suppose we should forgive Insurrection in this regard. My favorite of all of them is Nemesis, followed closely by Wrath of Khan / Voyage Home. |
