| Posted: | | | | I post this here, since it's not really related to the contribution. I did an update to the Norwegian edition of Kick-"Butt" 7041271926243 since it was just the basic information entered. So I audited it, entered full specs, audio, subs, features, cast/crew...the whole nine yard. After it's been pending for a few days with no votes at all, I suddenly see a new update for the coverscan, and the contribution notes said "added cover since it's not there from before" Well, I just let that be for now, and leave it up to the screeners. Then this new scan got YES votes, not a problem by me, but suddenly I wondered why this voter didn't vote on my contribution? And also why the contributer of the coverscan didn't see my update in the first place? And here's what I belive happen. The contributor of the cover have entered this title while my contribution is pending, and she/he see there's no scan, and decides to contribute, which is also fine, we all like good contributions. But I suspect this person hasn't uploaded to the online database, and that's why he/she didn't see my pending update. And when my contribution was released, there were more YES votes to the pending scan, so I decided to vote NO for three reasons: 1.The new scan is from the cover without removing it from the case. 2: The cropping is bad, I can see the blue cover on the bottom and sides. 3: And the colours are weaker compared to my original cover. One other pointed out that this cover was slightly better readable on the small letters compared to mine. Anyway I let the screeners decide, but I think it's strange that the contributor haven't checked for the pending contribution. But back to my question: When you add a new DVD/BD do you upload to the online base, and then check if there's pending updates, or do you add it, see it's just basic information and audit it, then upload to the base, and in some cases you see that it's allready 5 pending updates on the same title? I did that in the beginning before I learned myself to _always_ upload and THEN check for updates. After that rule, I saved myself lot's of work on new titles... | | | "What's God?" | Posted: | | | | Yes. In most cases it will have been on my ordered/wishlist before I get it so I'll catch any pending updates before I recieve it. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | It is a sickness for me... every time I add something I must go see if there is anything new to vote on.
I think I mostly do this because I gotten into the habit of see what updates to the profile is needed as I get them. So it just is natural to me to check for updates before making one. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | I try to always check for updates and pending contributions before auditing. If there are, I don't duplicate the same information. | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. |

| Posted: | | | | Ike most of the other posters, I try to always check for pending or current updates. As Addicted2DVD stated "It's a sickness for me..." I couldn't agree more. Rory | | | DVD Profiler for iOS as of 3/5/2013 DVD Profiler for Android as of 5/17/2013 |

| Posted: | | | | It may be because the new owners added their DVD to their database but forgot to or simply didn't update their online collection. Then they won't see the profile for voting. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | I almost never check the pending. Primarily this is because even if there is data there, it's likely not even close to how I would want it. The other reason is that I rarely bother to contribute anymore, outside of covers, for the same reason. I do my profiles my way, which isn't necessarily the online way. Frankly, I've been out of the loop for so long, I'm not even sure if I know how to contribute the "correct" way anymore. Far too many undocumented forum rules to bother keeping up with. |

| Posted: | | | | I usually check to see if there is a contribution up before I do one. I've gotten better about remembering to check that. | | | |

| Posted: | | | | i dont contribute non pre-order titles often.. but i try to add a few audits a year to help pay back this amazing program... therefore i never contribute new release titles... being in R1 i have a slight advantage that 99% of those are done by others... i spend my contribution time on more obscure tv shows and movies that maybe would not normally get the love they deserve... | | | -JoN |

| Posted: | | | | I pretty much never check for updates because I pretty much only validate DVD's that are at least five years old. |

This "other" might be me (...and I bought this title the 27th (this monday) and had no opportunity to vote on your original contibution...) The colors on the cover on *my* copy looks weaker than on your new contribution, which starts me wondering: I bought my copy at the opening day at a big store (Elkjøp) at a reduced price (NOK 99), could this be a reprint of the cover (already!) due to mass production for this store ? Now I'm not sure what to vote: Your cropping is better, the other contibs colors looks more like my cover, - and the readability of the small print is better. On the other hand: Your contrasts is better - the black letters are black... Maybe "Neutral" has to be my choice | | | Karsten |

| Posted: | | | | I looked before I did my submission for Iron Man 2. I had pre-ordered the movie and I actually got my copy on Monday. That is when I scanned the covers and submitted them. No other contributions turned up until sometime Tuesday. | | | |
