Title says it all: What was the first DVD, Bluray, HD-DVD, LD that you owned? (feel free to mention your first CD, cassette, VHS or anything that you'd like here.)

For me it was Disney films.

DVD: Pinocchio (purchased Oct 24, 1999)

Bluray: Sleeping Beauty and Snow White (purchased Oct 6, 2009)

I never did buy hddvd or ld as I thought they were not going to last long. I waiting quite a while for the bluray to be sure and the fact that Disney had the bluray/dvd combo helped make my decision.

How about you?

BTW, I did a search to see if this topic was done before and nothing came up. Apologies if I missed it.

I did one of these thread ages ago...but they're always fun to read!

CD: Annie (Movie Soundtrack)
Cassette: Toyah 'The Changeling' (same day as Annie...and I got a very strange look from the guy at the counter!)
LP: Toyah 'Anthem'
7" Single: Bucks Fizz 'The Land of Make Believe'
12" Single: The Thompson Twins "Hold Me Now"
VHS: Blade Runner and The Goonies - both bought ex-rental on the same day.
DVD: Matrix on the day I bought my first DVD player.
Blu-ray - Pinocchio Double Play - which I bought before even owning a BD player.

Never did the LD or HD-DVD route as I thought they were fads.

Funny that you mention that as I purchased about 25 +/-  Blurays before actually getting a player. I was holding out for an Oppo but decided that I just cannot afford one yet so went with a Sony. They were all bluray/dvd combo packs.

Now I have the Sony and it is also a 3D player but I won't be getting a 3D tv any time soon.

December 1980  My very first movie ( on vhs cassette ) was Blazing Saddles.. and I can't for the life of me explain the feeling of 'anxst'  with that plastic shell in my hand..      All the action,  all the music, all the comedy and dialogue buried within inches of my fingers ...  hard to explain..  and  it was the only time after countless thousands of furthur titles over the years after that  I felt that way..

oh  and price..?  $89.00

My first 45 was "Teddy Bear" by Elvis. (I owned 78s before I bought it, but all were bought for me by my parents and grandparents.)

My first LP was "Prez" by Perez Prado.

My first cassette was a version of Stravinsky's Firebird... performed by an American orchestra.

My first VHS tape was Citizen Kane.

My first CD was "Graceland" by Paul Simon

My first DVD was Saving Private Ryan.

My first Blu-ray was Enchanted.
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

Cassette Tape: The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars by David Bowie
CD:  Flashpoint by The Rolling Stones
DVD:  Grave of the Fireflies
Blu-Ray:  Iron Man

I don't remember the first VHS I bought.  Nor the first LP.  I gave all my LPs to Goodwill several years ago.  The VHS I've mostly gotten rid of as well.  Didn't buy any HD, as I was waiting for the formats to sort out.

DVD: Poltergeist (bought in 1999 or 2000)

HDDVD: Doom, Last Samurai and Phantom of the Opera (all bought on release date. May 2006)

Blu-ray: R.V. (April 2007)

Can't remember any of my firsts when it comes to music formats, nor VHS and Laserdisc. If I didn't have my DVDs and HDs in DVDProfiler, I wouldn't remember those either
