I just read that..amazing a 4 Billion dollar deal.

Disney and Lucas have had a long relationship, so it makes sense.

And Episode VII announced for 2015!!!!

Look at poor Lucas, looks so happy in that photo. I hope Disney remaster the original theatrical releases in HD.

And ensure Jar Jar Binks never ever eveeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrr, returns in another Star Wars film.

Knowing Disney, they will make sure to include Jar Jar Binks or some equally entertaining character in future films... and make the films more family friendly. No more PG rating, they will probably go for an U rating

I don't know about that. Casual cinema goers expect much more profoundness and intelligence in blockbusters these days.

They will possibly bring in Ducan Jones to make what i expect will be a new trilogy. Moon, Source Code.

The guy knows sci-fi, especially 70's sci-fi. He's the only director i can think of who could make a new trilogy to rival the original.

I agree, plus Disney knows enough not to damage a brand.  Besides they produce a lot of non "G" movies, they just don't use the Disney brand to market them under,  like Buena Vista.  Plus from the sounds of it LucasFillm will still exist as an entity, just owned by Disney.

Andrew Garfield would also be a good choice to play a Skywalker son.

So will they re-use some of the John Carter imagery in StW7 to recoup some of the losses of JC?

I don't know why you would make that assumption.  The Avengers was PG-13.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

I wonder if this means we'll see Star Wars charas in future installments of Kingdom Hearts...

Lucas probably has a contract clause something like:

  • The original trilogy must never ever be seen remastered in its original unaltered CGI-less theatrical releases.

  • I may add additional CGI changes to any of the movies, at any time. These will then be the default releases worldwide.

Fox retains the distribution rights for the 6 first films. So it would be up to them if they want to release the original trilogy at some time.
