It's not crap to everyone... I, myself find it to be very useful. For example the end of next month I will be staying a week in a motel with my daughter while she comes to visit from college (no room for her here at the house so we getting a room). While the motel has cable TV... they don't offer blu-ray/dvd players. And my computer don't have a blu-ray player in it. But I will still be able to watch the DVD disc from the combo in my laptop.

When I get my own place I plan on having a TV in both the living room and bedroom... but only have the one blu-ray player... though I do have a DVD player to hook up in the bedroom... which means  I will still have the option to watch the film in the bedroom if wished.

So yes... I like the combo sets when possible! 

I, too, appreciate the combo sets for reasons similar to the ones given by Pete and Lord Of The Sith, but I also am finding that the digital copy holds value as well.

When I go on vacation, I always take some discs with me so that I, or my kids, have something to watch in the car/airport/plane/hotel/etc.  This presents two problems.  First, I am stuck with the films I brought and, second, I always worry that something might happen to those discs.

With the digital copies, those two problems are solved.  As long as I have WiFi, I can pick and choose what to watch and there are no discs to lose or damage.

I hate to pay for the B-rD 2D in a B-rD 3D/2D combo pack, I hate to pay for the DVD in a B-RD/DVD combo pack, I hate to pay for digital copies or download codes, I never used them, I hate Steelbooks and Mediabooks, and when the first release is not available in a standard case, I hate it when original language subtitles are missing. Hate, hate, hate.

Just being curious is there anything you like?  I like the 3D and 2D combos for one reason.  I suffer from horrible migraine head aches and the 3D I get from my active shutter glasses gives me the worst migraine after no more than 10 minutes.  However my son and wife are not affected by the 3D and both enjoy it.  I normally buy it on sale for 2 or 3 dollars more so I have no skin in the game as my family is happy.

You should check craigsllit/Kijjiji for some good deals, but I'd really recommend visiting Blu-ray.com's Canadian Deals forum often... a great place to find great deals.  I was able to order a bunch of Shout Factory! blu-rays for $2.99 each...
