| Posted: | | | | While out on my walk today I stopped and got a cheap blu-ray disc ($6)... when I got it home I open it and see it is a combo set. Turns out the combo info was only on the slip cover... and the store got some without the slip cover... and charged thinking it was a BD only release? It was this one.. I would even pay more for a B-rD (B-r3D) only release, but usually they do not offer a choice and only release this combo crap. | | | Don't confuse while the film is playing with when the film is played. I would even pay more for a B-rD (B-r3D) only release, but usually they do not offer a choice and only release this combo crap. It's not crap to everyone... I, myself find it to be very useful. For example the end of next month I will be staying a week in a motel with my daughter while she comes to visit from college (no room for her here at the house so we getting a room). While the motel has cable TV... they don't offer blu-ray/dvd players. And my computer don't have a blu-ray player in it. But I will still be able to watch the DVD disc from the combo in my laptop. When I get my own place I plan on having a TV in both the living room and bedroom... but only have the one blu-ray player... though I do have a DVD player to hook up in the bedroom... which means I will still have the option to watch the film in the bedroom if wished. So yes... I like the combo sets when possible! | | | Pete | | | Last edited: by Addicted2DVD |

| Posted: | | | | I agree with Addicted . It is very nice to have the combos. I have not bothered to upgrade the bedroom TV and DVD player, so it is nice to have the DVD for in there. Some of the people I know are not Technophiles so if we are going to watch a movie at their place I need the DVD as well. All in all I find great value in the combos minus the digital copy which I don't use. |

| Posted: | | | | I, too, appreciate the combo sets for reasons similar to the ones given by Pete and Lord Of The Sith, but I also am finding that the digital copy holds value as well.
When I go on vacation, I always take some discs with me so that I, or my kids, have something to watch in the car/airport/plane/hotel/etc. This presents two problems. First, I am stuck with the films I brought and, second, I always worry that something might happen to those discs.
With the digital copies, those two problems are solved. As long as I have WiFi, I can pick and choose what to watch and there are no discs to lose or damage. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | I haven't used digital copies at all yet.... am funny I guess... but even when traveling I prefer to have the actual disc with me.
Though I can see their usefulness. | | | Pete |

Hate, hate, hate. Just being curious is there anything you like? I like the 3D and 2D combos for one reason. I suffer from horrible migraine head aches and the 3D I get from my active shutter glasses gives me the worst migraine after no more than 10 minutes. However my son and wife are not affected by the 3D and both enjoy it. I normally buy it on sale for 2 or 3 dollars more so I have no skin in the game as my family is happy. |
