| Posted: | | | | Is this supposed to be scary? For sure.
On the other hand I'm not quite sure that it will scare off people that participate in just about any social network, use What'sApp or any other messaging service, use Google services on a regular basis and own a Smart-Phone (any OS).
If you want to be on the safe side: - Buy a machine that is run with DOS ... and keep the plug pulled. - Avoid all kinds of electronic communication devices (this includes, but is not limited to: telephone, mobiles, TV) - Abolish all traceable payment systems (PayPal, Credit/Debit Cards, Bank accounts ...) - Abolish all In-Home delivery services (Mail, Parcel, Food, Water, Electricity, ...) - Reduce external contact to the absolute minimum - Grow your own food . . . Get a time-machine and move back to the 1950's (better 1850's, even though your time machine may cause quite an uproar then) | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! ??? Don't quite understand ... If I understood your point correctly it boiled down to "Do not use Microsoft Windows (any version) since Microsoft collects your data and uses it for purposes that are beyond your control" I just tried to show up that Microsoft is not alone with this behaviour (Just as an example: For becoming part of the Facebook and/or What'sApp databases I don't even have to register, it completely suffices to be in the adress-book of a registrant) and what you'd have to do to regain full control of your personal data. Having control over personal data nowadays is an illusion as long as you don't undergo some severe restrictions within your personal life. In fact your "Straw-Man"-link is by far the better example for a "Straw-Man". | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | Better than 8.1? Yes Better than 7? Depends on what you want to do. 10 is a step back from many of the "news" 8 brought us and is a bit like "7" with modernized optics. The start-menu is back, the "Metro"-surface is gone, the tile-apps now open in windows and can be minimized. (More info). My impression is that if "10" would have been released as "8" the features brought to us by "8" would have been much better perceived. Sadly Microsoft tried to force too many news in one go. I still think that the concept of 8 (one surface for all devices) was a great idea, they just were too fast for their customers and entirely forgot that many users still have classic PC-hardware so that Touch-Screen optimization isn't necessarily a pro on a Desktop-PC. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
