KM Those updates weren't incorporated. To incorporate it, the easiest way for me is to have a database that also contains a headshot profile listing al entries. When adding their updates to my database, all new images get added without notification, so I would need to create a blank database, restore the headshots, create a blank profile and add all actors/crew members. This would mean more work than I have free time. Surfeurs update was over 100MB and I'm trying to keep the monthly updates small and quick to process. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

| Posted: | | | | In my headshot hunting I've come upon a pretty decent site: http://www.hotflick.net/They've got screenshots from quite a number of movies of quite a number of actors. While having actor headhots of them in character is not as desireable as out of character, it's better than nothing in those cases where you can't find another photo. | Posted: | | | | The October headshot update is available here. Included are 13 crew members and 280 actors. Most of the are new additions. A big thank you goes to Astrakan for providing some 150 images. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

| Posted: | | | | Hi,
I am having difficulty following the steps. I have downloaded surfeur's headshot DB, but it looks like I will need to upgrade to 3.5 beta first. However I don't understand what I am supposed to do here :
"Add the cast and crew members with an updated headshot to the Headshots profile (for crew, just use director for every member, don't loose your time by selecting the correct role)."
I created a profile called Headshots and deselected Download from Invelos. Do you mean just pick any other existing profile and manually go through and add headshots, but list the director as the same for each selection (director, producer, etc.)? All the rest seems pretty straightforward, but I do not understand what I am supposed to do for this step. I would like to use the headshots file I downloaded and add them for all of my actors.
Thanks, DD. |

Thanks, DD. Download Dr. Killpatient's Headshots v4 database, listed in the post just above. This is still in the 3.1 format. Perform a database restore of this file. You will only see options concerning the cast/crew db in the restore. Select "Let Me Compare" as option. Any images in your local db will not be automatically overwritten. You will get a window where you can select the image you want. If you already have a lot of headshots, this can be a lengthy process. Then go to this site. Restore Addendum v10, then in order Aug08, Sept 08, Oct 08. These last 4 updates are very small and only take a few minutes to process. They will correct quite a few errors (you can find the corrections somewhere in this topic) plus some new additions. | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

| Posted: | | | | I downloaded this just to see what you had.
You need to make a policy that if a person is not sure the image is for the correct person, do not submit it. On the older actors, I had to correct at least 20 probably closer to 30 or more (I quit counting) different people because you have accepted images from bad sites.
By "older actors" I mean actors and actresses from the 50s and earlier. | | | Dan | | | Last edited: by Dan W |

Whohoo! Man, does that ever make DVDP look slick! You guys should be advertising this feature, it's great! Thanks for the explanation, all up to date with October's update. Having never noticed that headshots even existed in the DB, selecting Let Me Compare had nothing to compare so the Restore was very fast. DD. |

Thanks for the explanation, all up to date with October's update. Having never noticed that headshots even existed in the DB, selecting Let Me Compare had nothing to compare so the Restore was very fast. DD. Glad you enjoyed it. Just be aware, this is all a compilation of several user's downloads. We can't really advertise, nor will Invelos take part in any of this due to copyrights existing on images. Another thing, this being user created, it can, does and will contain some errors. Should you spot any errors, just post them in this topic, if possible with a link to a correct image. This way, it can be included in the next update. By the way, welcome to the DVD asylum | | | View my collection at http://www.chriskepolis.be/home/dvd.htm

By "older actors" I mean actors and actresses from the 50s and earlier. Dan, are you referring to the October update, or the full v4 database? | | | "This movie has warped my fragile little mind." |

| Posted: | | | | Now that the DVDP beta now in RC status, I've started putting serious effort into v5 which will be in 3.5's format and will release on or shortly after the day 3.5 is released.
Since 3.5 allows you to use custom headshots for profiles which overrides the global headshot, I'm going to maintain the current standard of accepting photos of the older actor. Since you can put a younger version in for your personal preference, I don't see a need for complicating things. |

| Posted: | | | | When someone submits a headshot of an actor that is much older than the current one, I have to perform a visual comparison and I take the effort to match up facial features. If there's a reasonable doubt, i don't accept it.
For example, if the younger version has bushy eyebrows, I expect the older version to also have bushy eyebrows. Eyebrows, while a factor, don't measure high because they can be altered. Other factors come into play such as facial shape, eye shape, etc. | | | Last edited: by Dr. Killpatient |

| Posted: | | | | Ok, so I managed to download this in sections so that I could try it out.
It's looking good to me even though there will be some headshots of my own that I will prefer keeping over what is offered.
I am curious to know if, now that I have all of these images loaded, is it possible to un-loaded them again (back to no cast or crew images showing at all) without going through and removing them manually one by one? | | | If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.
