Are we all so blind as to not see what is actually going on here?

Could it be that the "Tin Foil Hat" is covering all our eyes?

Note: "Tin Foil Hat" needs both caps and quotes to have its full power to save us from the Dark Ones!

"TFH"'s have been a recent phenomenon here.  This has been going on for years!

I see it Hal.  That's why I've stepped out of the picture for the most part recently because it's just silly.  And we're as guilty for responding as he is for posting.  We're the ones supplying the fuel.

I think my favorite is this one but the I seem to get better results with the multi-colored cap.

And here we are again, spending hour after hour, page after page, arguing with one (count 'em) single individual, lone obstinate user that he is wrong and we (all the rest of us) are right!

Can someone please, please explain to me why we, as a community, do this to ourselves over and over and over again?

I have no idea why... Especially since he said on page 13(?) that he is not listening to anyone of you/us.

BTW, I counted "them": 1.

Golly, Dan, I guess I was wrong, I should have told you and Stef No on Sound. After all, EVERYBODY else was in agreement about permanently removing Sound from the program.

No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Simple, Gunnar. AS CREDITED. Now if you have read what i have said I am willing to grant the Key Field to Mister Roberts or whatever. But the On Screen title still nedds to be dealt with in some form, probably through the addition of ONE single field.

Skip

We do not need a new field for this. There's nothing that needs to be dealt with.

I believe it was northbloke that said it best somewhere in one of these threads where he explained the quotes merely mean "this is the title". Nothing more.

Putting quotes around every title that shows them on-screen would make the program ridiculous. Creating a new field so that we could show the same data both with and without quotes is even more ridiculous.

Hallelujah!!!

Thank-you James - common sense and program useability remains.
This is exactly how I feel about it.

This is how most of us feel about it.

But once again Skip will say that the database should be his way and all the rest of us should change our local copy. I think at one point he might have even said that he has changed his local copy!

My contribution for Mister Roberts has been declined.

Looks like we will need a rule change if we want to get rid of the quotes around titles.

I would love to know 'why' it was declined.  Would you be willing to PM Gerri and see if she can shed some light on it?

I declined the contribution because as of right now, it is against the rules. The consensus appears to be that the rules should be updated. The rules will be updated and then the title can be changed.
