| Posted: | | | | The BEST animation movies of all time are anime... studio Ghibli's beeing the best of course. Since no other country does good animation anymore Japan is simply unbeatable. Pity, since I liked Disney/Dreamworks stuff... or minor european stuff. |

| Posted: | | | | Erik try Saikano ('She, The Ultimate Weapon' in the UK) very nice animation and a story that made me cry a few times.
The obvious one would be The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, I've only got the first DVD but alot of people rate it highly. |

Well, the animation on Disney/Dreamworks ist great, shame they only use the most dumbed down childrens stories. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

| Posted: | | | | Anime series I can recommend: Full Metal Panic! (great mixture of action/comedy/romance) Elfen Lied (splatter with a good story) Gunslinger Girl (Leon meets Nikita) Azumanga Daioh (pure comedy) Midori Days Ai Yori Aoshi Quoting Ralliart: Quote: One thing that I dont like about anime is the price of the dvd's To many time its like 40$ for 3 episodes of 21 min I buy my anime DVDs from DVD Pacific. I never paid more than 30$ for a 13-episode series and never more than 40$ for a 26-episode series. | | |

| Posted: | | | | I'm certainly an anime fan with well over 1000 profiles. Sadly though, I'm not that up to date either. I've got a particular fondness for older series, with favourites including Urusei Yatsura, Kimagure Orange Road, Giant Robo, and Bubblegum Crisis. I've been disappointed too often by chasing the latest releases, only to find that they're a flash in the pan.
The most recent thing that I've seen that had me all excited was Monster. However, I'm not yet aware of any English languages releases.*
Anything else that I'd heartily recommend? Well try:
Urusei Yatsura Kimagure Orange Road Giant Robo Bubblegum Crisis (original, not the travesty of a remake) Berserk Anything Ghibli Cardcaptor Sakura Moldiver Full Metal Alchemist Azumanga Daioh Macross (original) X TV El Hazard (original OAV) Tenchi Muyo (original OAV)
Stuart
* Yes, it's a fansub. However, before you get too excited about it and call me a thief, I still work by the strict ethical code of fansubbing - i.e. if you get the fansub and it's later released in the English language, I'm duty bound to get it - regardless of locality. | | | This is a sig... ... ... yay...

I haven't been able to find any stockists though. | | | Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!) |

| Posted: | | | | I enjoy anime, though I haven't really gotten much new stuff lately. Most of what I watch/have is recommendations from my brother and a buddy of mine from college.
Couple ones I really enjoy are:
Guyver Trigun Outlaw Star Kenshin Ninja Scroll Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (didn't like the first one as much) Hellsing was pretty good too
I actually found the Guyver series from the live action movie. My next anime purchase will probably be the second series, though I'm probably going to try and get it all at once, which as others said could be expensive with anime so I'm waiting to find it at a good deal.

| Posted: | | | | Robotech was edited together for the western market from three unrelated series. The ultimate question is do you want to see Robotech (which will be English Language and slightly more kidified) or the original Japanese versions (starting with Super Dimensional Fortress Macross, Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber Mospeada)?
Macross was extremely popular in its own right, and so has spawned many sequels over the last two or three decades, the following being available in the US:
Macross Macross Do you Remember Love (movie version of series) Macross 2 Macross Plus Macross Plus Movie (movie version of series).
I don't know to much about the releases of Robotech, but from what I understand you have:
- Protoculture arc ( = Macross) - Sentinals arc / Masters ( = Southern Cross) - New Generation ( = Mosmeada) - Shadow Chronicles ( = purpose made as sequel)
I'm sure someone else can do a better job, but that's the basics.
