I use Nero Showtime. Used PowerDVD for a while, but then I tried Nero Showtime and used it ever since.

Yup. Exactly.

Media Player Classic plays almost anything, and is generally my favorite. I also have Powerdvd installed, and it's a great player.

Windows media center(Vista Ultimate Edition) with nVidia PureVideo decoder and nVidia Purevideo patch for media center.  The PC is connected to my 42" Plasma TV and Media Center can be configured to run in a specific resolution as opposed to all other programs who simply use the current one.

With this setup, I can watch DVD's at 720p so basically my PC is now an upconverting dvd player

Why Vista ?  SImply because media center changes the resolution when it starts but in windows XP it's not smart enough to set it back when exiting and at 720p I lose the task bar in windows.  MCE in vista doesn't have this problem.
