There was also Richard Hurndall who played the first Doctor in the "Five Doctors" since Hartnell had long passed away,
Rowan Atkinson in "The Case of Fatal Death,
Lenny Henry once played The Doctor against his arch-enemy Thatchos.
Who was the other Comic Relief Doctor other than that Doctor Who/EastEnders piece of Dog-dodo?

Also I believe the Sarah Jane Adventures have not started yet, as an answer to an earlier poster.

I won't be seeing 'Blink' for a few more weeks, so don't spoil it for me. But I just realized that I don't have any furniture to cower behind. Maybe my wife will let me build a fort out of the kitchen table...

Yes, in a Comic Relief special in 1999, Doctor Who and the Curse of Fatal Death along with Rowan Atkinson, Richard E. Grant, Jim Broadbent and Hugh Grant.

My wife and I both grew up watching Tom Baker.....

So you're a newbie then

William Hartnell & Patrick Troughton were the Golden Days! I remember watching the first Daleks series from behind the sofa. Scarey stuff for its day.

I was on a flight to Toulouse last year and Tom Baker (who was always my favourite) was on the plane...

My first exposure to The Docotr was through the paperback adaptations published in the 70's. I had read about 70 or so before seeing my first episode. So I was not one of those Americans who saw Tom Baker first, and made him my favorite. My favorites have always been Troughton, Hartnell, Tennant, and McCoy in that order. I am even one of the small minority who think Colin Baker was as good as Tom.
My problem with Tom Baker was that following Pertwee, he and the writers tried to bring back some of the lightness of Troughton, but missed it and for a few seasons made it almost Carry on Who'ing. The last few seasons of his run seemed darker and a return to what I feel others had brought to the show before.

Also John Nathan-Turner stayed Waaaay to long and like visitors and fish his staying that long began to stink.

I grew up in a very small town in rural Arkansas, where it was rare to get a good PBS signal, much less anything else, especially in the country, where I lived. Add to that my pentecostal grandmother's insistence that anything science fiction related was evil and I missed out on a lot, until my mom moved us into town.

I always really enjoyed Doctor Who, along with Star Wars, Star Trek, and just about every other sci-fi show I could find on T.V. But it wasn't until the early 90s that I even found out about the Doctor's legacy. (I have to admit here that I desperately wanted a Tom Baker scarf, even though I don't wear the few scarves I do own now.)

It's really only now that I'm older and so into DVDs that I am seeing how extensive some of my favorite sci-fi properties are and I'm devouring them as fast as I can, as well as acquiring new favorites. It helps that my wife is a Trekker and a closeted fan-girl and we love a lot of the same things.

So, a newbie? Yes. Willing to learn, heck yeah!

EDIT: I just found out that we'll be getting Torchwood on BBC America come September. Can't wait. I really enjoyed Harkness (did you see him in The Producers remake?)

Yes.

Quote:
"One of These Days", the opening track of Pink Floyd's 1971 album "Meddle", echoes the theme about 3 minutes into the track. The reference was made more explicit in live performances.
