They can't steal the whole item because of the security device, they can't extract the DVD because of the stickers. And yes, I too don't understand why online-vendors get the same packaging. Quote: And the buyer still has to bother with peeling off the stickers...which sometimes rips the covers. Yes, it's a bother, but you can remove them! The time and effort to remove those pesky trailers would be much greater. Quote: I don't really see how "stickers" are deactivated once purchased... Slight misunderstanding: I meant the security-thingis inside, and thought you meant the same. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

| Posted: | | | | I do think they are staying on the screen too long. Just seems the warring about fines etc used to be on screen shorter.
Kind of ticks me off when all I want to do is watch the movie and I have to wait for this screen to go away on certain DVD's it just seems to stay on screen longer then it should. | | | Last edited: by Randall_Lind |

| Posted: | | | | quoting Rifter: Quote: Having worked in retail, I can attest that there are some very slick thieves out there who could, and did, get the disc out of a shrink-wrapped package and you couldn't tell it had been done until you picked it up and examined it. I can vouch for this as well...I work retail and just a couple days ago I found a dvd that only looked like the shrink wrap had been torn on the middle of the cover slightly (like it had been caught by a sharp edge) and went to rewrap it...they had managed to steal the disc without making more than a couple inch tear in the plastic. I find that the majority of the discs I buy just have the one sticker on top, which is annoying and doesn't seem to prevent much theft. You can just rip the shrink wrap off and pop the case open if it just has the one top sticker. The store I work with has plastic keep cases that dvds go into, but not all fit into the 2 sizes we have. We have a locked case and I don't know how many people have complained because they have to get someone to unlock it and then we walk the item up to the register...but after seeing the store's loss numbers, it's hard to be sympathetic for people complaining about it. I'm all for a shortening/ability to fast foward through the warnings on the dvd, like others have said before me, if you're forced to watch it, you're probably not the one stealing it. | | | Lori |
