A little more than a year ago my son bought a surround sound system (separate receiver, speakers, not a HTB) from Fry's (against my better wishes, but, hey, he's a grownup) and after installing it, found there was one channel out. He swapped speakers and it was the amp. He took it back to Fry's & they had none to swap (sold out), and said they shipped to the manufacturer for repair. So it was shipped out and never fixed. It seems the receiver was sold to Fry's by the distributer as a factory second, with no warranty. So the manufacturer could not repair it without charging Fry's, who refused to do so. By that time, more than 30 days had passed since the purchase and Fry's went on a tangent that there were no returns beyond 30 days. My son fought, and within a couple hours, won his battle with Fry's, who offered a refund. He went to Best Buy to get the same receiver for $10 more. He checked with the manufacturer, hiving them a serial number -- it was not a factory second, and was covered by a normal warranty. I do hope Fry's away from Sacramento act like customer service and labelling factory seconds accurately (and their lack of warranties) are important. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

| Posted: | | | | From what I've seen, the Fry's near Seattle has been good at labeling things are returns and the like and stating on the sticker that it is covered by warranty. |
