Some people think football [and soccer] is a matter of life and death.... I can assure them it is much more serious than that. |

| Posted: | | | | I started putting them in books (208 discs/book), while numbering the books and the pages with a basic label-maker. In DVD Profiler I put the book and page number in the Notes section for that DVD. I remove the cover art/insert from the case, and just toss the case, but keep the art/insert (they take up a lot less space than a case). I'm keeping the "non-standard" cases for now. I don't need to worry about any kind of order, either. I just look up the movie and get it from the appropriate book/page. If I'm ever robbed, it'll make it much easier for the thief to get away with my collection, though. P.S. PC Maximum magazine had a DIY arcticle awhile back on how to build a movie/music server. As I recall, it was about 1/5 the cost of Kaleidescape system. Mike | | | Mike | | | Last edited: by CadetStimpy |

| Posted: | | | | I do pretty much the same thing CadetStimpy does. I'm not sure if I've got the same exact binder set-up, but the idea applies. Although, I've not numbered the pages, but it sounds like a good idea.
I also keep the non-standard cased movies on display with movies inside. However, if it's just your run-of-the-mill type keep case (especially as inserts disappear), then they get filed in the binder.
I think I'll need to get a third book soon. I'm trying my best to avoid sorting them by category, but I still do for a few of them: documentaries, animation, etc. The only filing I do within the binders is single disc movies and double disc movies (I HATE splitting up discs, especially on separate pages!), and then the music/concert dvds have their own section. | | | Last edited: by harpo787 |

| Posted: | | | | At the moment i would just find more space. Their now in the hallway, in a 2,5m x 2,5m bookshelve, that i think can hold something like 1000-1500 DVD's, so i'm set for a few years (i hope). When i run out of room there, ill add new shelves to the livingroom, or build "boxes" with wheels and place ones i dont watch often under the bed. I've actually already planned something for how the system would work. Make four 0,8m x 1m boxes link 2 together, so when you pull one out, it grabs the other one with it, open the link, toss the other one aside and pull the other one out. So it wouldnt need much floorspace to open them (have a small bedroom). |

Mike I use a system similar to this but my books hold 320 disks each and the covers are filed into plastic sleeves in lever arch files. I currently have 7 full books and am working on nos 8 and 9 (movies and series/collections). I have numbered the pages and each slot so my collection number reflects the book, page and slot location which makes them easier to find. I just hope the collection number allows 5 digit numbers in DVDP | | | <---------Mithrandir, Laverne and Shirley Caroline |
