| | Posted: | | | | Techie-wise: I've upgraded many dvd's just for a dts track. Picture and soundtrack are defininitly key things for me.
Movie-wise: This is different strokes for different folks area. What I like might not be what you like but I bought it anyway.
Extra-wise: This was tough...Some special editions are worth it extra wise. Some I wonder why they even bothered to call it a special edition in the first place.
Package-wise: I like some of the DVD exlusives, But the majority are hit and miss. The Steel Book thing Is killing me. I want all of them but I refuse to double dip for a package and the same extras.
Other-wise: Will only buy OAR as the Director's and the producers intended. I have no problem with the 101 Dalmatians platinum edition release. | | | | The artist formerly known as TylerDurden_73 |

With Musicals it's music, not the plot.
Who couldn't fall for Doris Day, Jane Powell, Ann Miller, Cyd Charisse, etc.
Later it was Star Trek, thus Sci-Fi. and James Bond.
In the early '60's I was introduced to Ian Fleming by my SCCA rally navigator,
a F86 pilot & jungle survival expert at the Air University, Maxwell AFB, Alabama.
Lately it's mysteries, since I've read 100's of the novels they are based on.
The I like collecting the sets, collection and TV shows I like and
didn't get to see when they were first released.
The rest of the genres, I pretty perticual although alas,
I do get some dogs in the sets, like Superman IV, etc.
Then when DVDs came about, I had to try films from other countries. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own.

I voted for the third choice as I am always on the lookout for a better picture ( anamorphic) and sound (5.1/DTS over Dolby surround ) any day .. Hands down. I must have gone thru two dozen titles so far when it comes to flipping and selling Older versions to Newer Collectors editions.

movie/show comes first obviously... if the movie is good enough i'll deal with lack of the other things - but some movies that are just average can win me over with packaging or tech - i dont really watch too many extras - i dont have enough time for the movies themselves - let alone the extras | | | | -JoN |

I may be short on funds one month, so I'll just buy the single disk version of a movie, but then a few months down the line, I'll find the two disk version at a good price, so I'll buy that - and now I have two versions of the same movie. Then they'll release the Director's Cut or Extended Version, and I'll have to go out and get that too. (Are they ever going to stop coming out with slightly different versions of Alexander, or Bladerunner?) Sometimes I'll buy a movie because of special features. Sometimes because it has 5.1 surround sound. Sometimes just because I find a dvd at a garage sale for a quarter and figure - why not.

When you complete step 12 you are given your Easter Egg chip. Just be careful they republish the manual with extended steps, and a cleaned up clearer instructions every few years.
