On a side note: the last Golden Collection, vol 6, appeared at the end of 2008.

I haven't seen any vol 7 by the end of 2009 in the online shops. Anybody seen news that Warner indeed stopped the series?

(alledgedly there are some 1000+ Bugs Bunny shorts alone. With approx 60 shorts per Golden Collection and with all the other characters, they can't be out of shorts yet...)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Bugs_Bunny_cartoons states that Bugs stars in approx 166 shorts.

There's a vol 6?  I've only seen up to vol 5.

The Golden Collection 1-5 has 94 Bugs Bunny cartoons.

See here for vol 6 at axelmusic . Also on sale at amazon.com and probably others. Amazon has an entry in the search list for a golden collection volume 7, but that is a dead end. Vol 6 is also in the Invelos db under upc 085391-178712 (USA locality). Released according to profile on 21-10-2008.

I remember the figure 1000+ from something like a document describing there are 'tons' in the vaults waiting to be published, it may have been in one of the documentaries of the first or second collection. But come to it, I am not sure whther that figure is about all looney tunes shorts or specifically the bugs bunny ones.

The Looney Tunes Golden Collection was an annual series of six four-disc DVD box sets from Warner Bros.' home video unit Warner Home Video, each containing about 60 Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies animated shorts. The series began in October 2003 and ended in October 2008.

Future DVD releases of Looney Tunes

According to Jerry Beck, consulting producer to the Golden Collection series Warner Home Video will continue to release Looney Tunes cartoons on DVD in 2009 and beyond, presumably as a different series. However, during a January 28, 2009 discussion on Shokus internet radio, Beck stated that there would be no such releases in 2009.

Along with the release of the Golden Collections, WB also released Looney Tunes Spotlight Collections which packaged only half of the cartoons of the Golden Collection on two DVDs. The exception to this practice was in 2005, with Warners Home Video instead releasing the somewhat-misnomered Looney Tunes Movie Collection, which featured DVDs containing edited versions of The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Movie and Bugs Bunny's 3rd Movie: 1001 Rabbit Tales.

In November 2009, it was reported that two new single disc DVD releases with 15 cartoons each, with one DVD featuring Bugs Bunny and the other featuring Daffy Duck, would be released in April 2010. It was also reported that these 30 cartoons would not contain any duplicates that had already been released as part of the Looney Tunes Golden Collection releases. This new series of DVDs is called Looney Tunes Super Stars, and the first two titles are Bugs Bunny: Hare Extraordinaire and Daffy Duck: Frustrated Fowl, which will be released on April 6, 2010. These new DVDs will still have the cartoons digitally restored and remastered - in addition to being shown uncut and uncensored.
