Quote: I think and know that all Bluray widescreen -is anamorphic, and without having to state that.... in other words,, there is no 'non anamorophic' widescreen movies on BD or HDVD .. .
Actually, since the native aspect ratio of Blu-ray (and HD DVD) is 16:9, there is no need for anamorphic transfers. They are all non-anamorphic fullscreen, letterbox or pillarbox (for those old 4:3 movies). You're right,, but one area that is a problem for me.. is when you go to filters and you want to filter out all enhanced widescreen ( looking for non anamorphic films in one's library ) I get all my HDD titles included., which is a bit of a problem that I haven't had time yet to get around and figure out (besides tags) to remedy ... | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. | Posted: | | | | upconvert is not enable unless using hdmi cable so I ordered a cable in the mean time I switch the hdmi cable from my cablebox.
I really can't tell the different. DVD set hdmi to auto which is 1080I (I have a 720p tv that simulates 1080i)
Switching between 480, 720 and 1080 doesn't matter looks the same to me. Not sure this upconvert tech working. Watching James Bond Tomorrow Never Dies. |

| Posted: | | | | You're not going to see any difference between 720p and 1080i or 1080p. Either the player resizes the output from 1080 to 720 or your TV does - end result is the same. |

| Posted: | | | | I had trouble trying to distinguish between upconverted and regular signal as well.., until One day I was watching a regular DVD on my regular Sony player, and the actor was holding a book in his hand,, and I .. couldn't ..,, quite.,, make out the title of the book.., I then switched to the Toshiba HDD., cued up the same scene..and voila.. there it was the Title, fuzzy, but readable.. . | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. If the source is in bad shape, the upconverted image will look even worse because then is when you really start to notice the flaws, especially if you have a big screen. I'd be curious to hear from others here on the forums what they experience with the new Toshiba XD-E500 upconverting Toshiba 1080p extended detail Player .. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird.
