Quote: What can I say.... being a werewolf.. I gotta respect a silver bullet! Then you should know that the whole silver bullet thing was started by werewolves in the effort to keep the poor from trying to kill them. I decided to start doing this differently from today on... with complete reviews instead of just a list... Just finished... Dementia 13John Haloran has a fatal heart attack, but his wife Louise won't get any of the inheritance when Lady Haloran dies if John is dead. Louise forges a letter from John to convince the rest of his family he's been called to New York on important business, and goes to his Irish ancestral home, Castle Haloran, to meet the family and look for a way to ensure a cut of the loot. Seven years earlier John's sister Kathleen was drowned in the pond, and the Halorans enact a morbid ritual in remembrance. Secrets shroud the sister's demise, and soon the family and guests begin experiencing an attrition problem. My Thoughts:Another movie I have never seen before today. I got this movie years ago in a free classic movie boxset (40 movies on 20 DVDs) that I got free for subscribing to Total Movie magazine. So going in I wasn't expecting much at all quality wise. Bit in the case of this movie I was fairly impressed how it looked... at least on my cheap 20in TV. The movie itself was entertaining. Definitely a good movie... but I have seen better. | Posted: | | | | White ZombieWhile traveling to New York, the young couple Madeleine Short Parker (Madge Bellamy) and her fiancé Neil Parker (John Harron) are convinced by their new acquaintance Charles Beaumont (Robert Frazer) to stay in Port Prince and get married in his mansion. However, Beaumont fell in love for Madeleine and his real intention is to convince her to call off the wedding. When he realizes that the time is too short to seduce her, he visits the local witch Legendre (Bela Lugosi) , who gives him a drug to transform Madeleine into a zombie. She dies immediately after the wedding, and her corpse is disputed by Beaumont and his sick love for her; Legendre, that wants her for his team of zombies; and Neil, who is convinced by the local missionary Dr. Bruner (Joseph Cawthorn) that she might be alive. My Thoughts:Another movie I have never seen before today. I got this movie in that same free classic movie boxset as I did with Dementia 13. This time however... the image quality is not nearly as good. And the audio has a constant hissing throughout the movie. Even though I was able to watch the movie. It didn't impress me too much. Maybe I am just too used to the Romero "zombies", this type of zombie (basically people in a daze being used as slaves with no self control/will) just didn't do it for me. I may be spoiled by what we consider Zombies now... but this movie (I am sorry to say) basically just bored me more then anything else. Not to mention that the quality of this disc took away from my enjoyment of the movie as well. | Posted: | | | | Skeleton ManIn the wilderness of the Pacific Northwest, four top soldiers in the Army Special Forces disappear on a routine training mission. 'Michael Rooker' and 'Casper Van Dien' lead a crew of eight top-notch soldiers to track down the inexplicable demise of their comrades.Though the soldiers have no idea what they are looking for, their search leads them to an old, blind Indian who tells them the tale of Cotton Mouth Joe -- the bravest and most ferocious warrior in an Indian tribe that, four hundred years previously, slaughtered his entire tribe in a fit of rage. Only one young girl was spared -- the Morningstar. According to legend, she alone has the power to send Cotton Mouth to his mortal grave. The soldiers believe the old Indian is crazy and that the story is nothing more than a myth...until the terrifying spirit of Cotton Mouth ominously materializes upon a black stallion, wielding a lethal spear. 'The Skeleton Man' has returned from the depths of hell to rain death and destruction upon any mortal who dares cross his path...this time it is the soldiers who are locked dead in his sights. My Thoughts:I bought this movie never seeing it before. I mainly got it because it was really cheap and sounded like it could be good. Going into it I figured it would definitely be low budget... but I have seen good low budget movies before. Unfortunately I didn't see a good one this time. I mean it did have it's moments... and a few half way decent effects... but at the same time some bad effects and a mixture of stupid and boring storyline. The look of "Skeleton Man" was basically a man in a (fairly cheap looking) skeleton mask... even though he was not meant to be. Was supposed to be a curse come to life. Not very impressive at all. Way back when I was about 10 or 11 years old... and I been watching them every since (I am 39 now). Ok. I thought it did. I read the book years ago and loved it. Not sure what took me so long to watch the movie. I'm sure I'll be watching more horror/Halloween type of movies this month too. I want to try to get reviews of some of them posted on a site where I post reviews..mostly movies or books. | | | |

| Posted: | | | | Cube: Signature SeriesSix ordinary strangers awaken to find themselves in a seemingly endless maze of interlocking cubical chambers armed with lethal booby traps. Without food or water, they have only a few days to live. None of them knows how or why they've been imprisoned, but soon discover that each possesses a skill that could contribute to their escape. As they work together to extricate themselves from their claustrophobic cell, one thing becomes painfully clear -- unless they learn to cooperate to solve the secrets of this deadly trap, none of them has very long to live.My Thoughts:Cube is a long time favorite of mine. Every since I originally saw it on Sci-Fi Channel years ago. I ordered it immediately when I found out it was released on DVD. This was before the Signature Series came out... But it didn't take me long to upgrade it. And for some strange reason... I was never able to part with the original release of this movie.. Cube movie definitely has it's share of gore in it... but it has much more then that... shows what people are capable of in the name of survival. And you better believe... some of it is not pretty. Another thing I really enjoyed in this movie... it was my first introduction to Nicole DeBoer... an actress I quickly became a fan of. | Posted: | | | | Salem's LotWith 'Salem’s Lot', a blood-curdling shocker based on the novel by Stephen King, director Tobe Hooper ('Poltergeist') sends the time-honored vampire legend soaring on bat wings into the modern era.Sinister events bring together a writer (David Soul) fascinated with an old hilltop house, a suave antiques dealer (James Mason) whose expertise goes beyond bric-a-brac and the dealer’s mysterious, pale-skinned "partner" (Reggie Nalder). The solid supporting cast of vampire victims and fighters includes Bonnie Bedelia, Lew Ayres, Elisha Cook, Ed Flanders, George Dzundza, Lance Kerwin, Geoffrey Lewis and Marie Windsor. It’s hard to keep the undead down. And so easy to be scared in 'Salem’s Lot'.My Thoughts:I have loved this one since the first time I saw it back in my teen years. Of course this is an adaptation from the book that Stephen King wrote. Who of course is my favorite horror writer. This is one of the few movies that scared me as a kid. A couple of my favorite spooky parts in this movie is .. 1. The kid vampire scratching at his friends window.... pleading with him to let him is. 2. The grave digger rocking in the rocking chair... looks over at you and hisses at you with his eyes glowing Of course this movie does not scare me any longer... but then again... I haven't seen any horror movie that has scared me in a very long time. Not to say the movie is any more or less scary... it just don't have the same effect it once did. Needless to say... this is one I would always highly recommend to any horror fan... and an absolute must see for any fan of vampire movies. Now... please lets see a DVD release of Return to Salem's Lot! It has been so long since I seen the sequel I can't remember anything other then it's existence. | Posted: | | | | Buffy the Vampire SlayerBlonde, bouncy Buffy (KRISTY SWANSON) is your typical high school cheerleader - her goal is to "marry Christian Slater and die" and nothing gets in her way when it's time to shop. But all that changes when a strange man (DONALD SUTHERLAND) informs her she's been chosen by fate to kill vampires. With the help of a romantic rebel (LUKE PERRY), Buffy is soon spending school nights protecting L.A. from Lothos, the Vampire King (RUTGER HAUER), his sidekick, Lefty (PAUL REUBENS), and their determined gang of bloodsuckers. It's everything you'd expect from a teen queen in the Valley. My Thoughts:Thought it was about time for me to slip in a Comedy-Horror. I enjoy a good comedy horror now and then. I know a lot of people that prefer the TV Series to this movie... and I agree... I do enjoy the series more... but I do still enjoy the movie as well. The thing is... with this one... Can these adults escape the fanatical wrath of these adolescent zealots, or will they become the next blood sacrifices to 'He Who Walks Behind The Rows?'My Thoughts:This is one of my favorite '80s horror.
