Exactly!
Quite certainly all countries that you have travelled and know a lot about.
Actually...most...not all...but most!
Well then you know that there is no socialism in these countries... There are many socialist programs...as you also know! Such as socialized medicine! Why do you object to a spade being called a spade? I thought you were all proud of these programs? Great Britain actually flirted with nationalization (socializing) of many industries a few years back. Fortunately for you, they later thought better of it! Others have not been as wise. | | | Hal | | | Last edited: by hal9g |

| Posted: | | | | As SH84 pointed out, they are all democracies with social elements in it. Many people think these are acomplishments of civilised nations.
BTW the opposite of social is antisocial... |

BTW the opposite of social is antisocial... Yes, they are democracies....for now! Who cares what the opposite of social is? The opposite of socialism is capitalism! | | | Hal |

Others have not been as wise. Acutally many industries were nationalised. It was the right-wing conservatives that privatised them. And as someone who remembers both variants: the nationalised industries had their problems, but they're not a patch on the problems of the privatised ones! |

BTW the opposite of social is antisocial... Try doing some reading. I might suggest Ayn Rand's 'Atlas Shrugged'. | | | Hal |

I don't think so! Anytime the government controls the wealth and resources of a country (also known as socialism), that's pretty much a dictatorship. Can you say Cuba, or Venezuela? I think perhaps you are thinking of Communism where all parties own everything (or nothing) equally! I give you the same advice as sugarjoe. Try reading 'Atlas Shrugged'. | | | Hal | | | Last edited: by hal9g |

BTW the opposite of social is antisocial... If socialism is what you get in civilized countries, I'll take anarchy and frontier justice any day. | | | John

Britain was in Korea AND Vietnam right along with us, so I guess you guys lost as well, eh? And just for the record, we haven't lost Iraq and we won't if we can keep the damn Democrats out of the White House. | | | John
