| Posted: | | | | Should a casual user with little to no programming knowledge like myself try the beta 3.5, or is that more for knowledgeable folk to use and work on? I don't want to be too far behind and get notes on any contributions about I need to update like I did when 3.1 went into effect. Is the beta useable, or would I lose a ton of info and custom cover pictures, custom cast/crew etc.? If so, is there a guide for dummies as to how to avoid that? Thanks in advance for any replies, even if I end up not understanding them. |

| Posted: | | | | I went over to the beta almost straight away, and have had no problems with losing data or any custom scans etc. At the minute all you will lose is the ability to contribute, although you'll also have to be careful that downloading any current profile updates don't overwrite any changes you make (for example, if someone has changed studios on a profile you've already added the distributor on). Just make sure you do a full backup before moving over. And what I did for a while was tag any new additions to the database in case I had to go back to the backup, but I never did. |

| Posted: | | | | I'll let others find the last min bugs.
And since last time everybody did a mass contribution of changes when the new vsn went live - and then had to change them all over again with additional changes due to the rules.. I'll let all these ping pong for a while as well..
So I'll wait a couple of weeks before downloading any updates (and will wait a week at least before upgrading my main installation after it goes live). | | | Paul |
