I don't watch sports either, but there are only a few shows that I watch on cable religiously and I can either purchase or rent them on DVD or Blu if I wanted to. Most of the time I sit there scanning channels menu, just to find something that looks good. I grew up without cable, so losing cable is no big deal to me, since that another $60 I can save on other things. Plus I have a HDTV, so I don't need the converter box anyways. | | | We're on a mission from God.

| Posted: | | | | I used to have cable, but I found I watched only 6 channels. Then I was like, I watch 6 channels and I'm paying $60 a month to just watch those 6???!!! Sure, at any given time I could find something good on those channels, but it just wasn't worth the money. I'll get cable again when I can order channels a-la-carte. And not sooner.
I actually don't watch any local channels at all - I live far enough out in the boonies that I can't pick anything up with an antenna anyway. Then again, I didn't watch the local channels when I had cable either. The only thing the local channel would be good for would be the news, and I can get that on the radio, and the Derby - and I always have to work the first Saturday in May anyway. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

| Posted: | | | | I'm out in the country and have DirecTV - so this really isn't a concern for me - but it does seem kind of stupid that people have had a year an a half notice that this switch was happening - and now less then a month away - all of the sudden there are so many people that don't have boxes yet.
I mean how long do you need to get ready for this - if they do delay the switch - its going to be the same thing is 6 months or however long they push it back.
I got several of the coupons for my grandparents - and when the cards arrived they were high quality - credit card stock with security features and holograms. Probably better made then my bank debit card. I wonder how much of the budget the goverment spent manufacturing the coupons.
Since most boxes are under $50. and the coupons -$40. - net cost is avg $10 - Just scrap making more coupons and make the boxes available for free - send them out with the tax refunds and everyone will have them by mid Feb anyway. |

Congress voted themselves a nice raise and they're now talking about delaying our tax refunds. Isn't that nice of them . | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |
