| Posted: | | | | I'm currently validating my collection - what I've been doing is to create a tag named "Validated" and then I scan in the UPC using a CueCat with the Alt-F10 method (search by UPC) and then flagging each hit by pressing the space bar. After I've done so many, I edit tags of all flagged profiles and set that Validated tag.
Then I clear all flags and repeat. Once I'm done scanning UPC's, I'll be able to see which movies I still have and which can be pruned out. |

Haven't had any issues with my CueCat. Yeah, sometimes I have to pass over the UPC a few times and I don't even bother scanning the UPC's that have the trailing 2 digits but it's worked wonderfully for me. |

My point is that if she is going to purchase a UPC scanner anyway she should go ahead and spend the extra $10 and get one that scans correctly the first time. My cue cat works just like yours does but I got tired of having to scan four and five times for each UPC before the silly thing picked it up. Besides that, the ones that sell for $25 fit your hand better and scans the entire UPC at once rather than having to run the cat over the UPC. She makes it sound like she has a fairly large collection. If so, why deal with the hassle and aggravation of a cue cat especially when it scans successfully one out of four attempts? | | | Dan |

Not terribly large. in the 300s I think. It's a big enough pain in the butt that I'm dreading it though. It's especially annoying because I take all my DVDs out of the cases and store them and put the DVDs in alphabetical order in DVD binders (that in itself is a nightmare!). So now I have to unpack all my cases to do this re-organizing. Oh Gods what was I thinking with this sytem!? | | | My Myspace page |

I've never had problems with it what-so-ever. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

| Posted: | | | | Likewise, my scans the first time 90% of the time. The only issues besides the extended UPC's I've experienced is if the bar code is really narrow or the case has some kind of thick warped plastic over it.
But if it's only $10 more, I say go for it. |
