| Posted: | | | | I ordered the DC from DeepDiscount on July 23rd along with some more titles already received (annual sale time again) and today received their note informing me the title - which had been on backorder status from the time of initially ordering - has been discontinued by the manufacturer, forcing them to cancel my order.
So now I had to re-order it from amazon for 7.84 $ more plus an additional 6.85 $ for S&H, almost double the price I was actually aiming for.
Surprisingly, amazon has already shipped the order, so the discontinued info seems to be kinda fishy.
It already struck me as strange that this title was already on backorder with DeepDiscount a mere 48 hrs after release, and now I feel kinda .... you probaly can relate.
Furthermore, I now have to wait approx an additional three weeks before I get to see the DC.
Anyone else had these kind of problems? Or is this something normal and I shouldn't mind at all? | | | Lutz | | | Last edited: by Darxon |

Quote: has been discontinued by the manufacturer I wasn't aware that this release was limited, but stranger things happened. Maybe the DC will be re-released without the lenticular-slipcover, or the studio wants to increase demand for the still-to-come Ultimate Collection by shortage of the DC. Not necessarily, if it was really limited, I'll say it's a safe bet that Amazon got an allotment much bigger than DeepDiscount. So it would be perfectly reasonable that they still have them while DeepDiscount was simply sucked dry during the 25%-sale. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

| Posted: | | | | At DVDtalk.com Forum member Mccarver lists all out of print DVD's and Blu-ray. I can't remeber what his sources are, but he has never been wrong. On this week's list Watchman two disc Director's edition was listed. I'm pretty sure there is a single disc that is still in print, sans extras and digital copy, but I don't recall Warner saying it was for a short time. | | | The artist formerly known as TylerDurden_73 |

| Posted: | | | | Are we talking about the one I've got? UPC 883929057795? it's the regular "2-disc Special Edition" of the DC, not the "Digital" copy. Mine has a yellow banner where it says "2-Disc Special Edition" the digital copy has a silver text "2-Disc Digital copy Special edition" banner (the one you always see listed, even at Collumbia House where I got my copy). I don't have a scan of my copy but I finally found an online picture of it that shows front and back (sort of my copy on the back has a banner that says "Director's cut over 24 minutes longer" in yellow not the white as shown) http://www.customaniacs.org/forum/attachments/scanned-covers/165509d1246956338-watchmen-directors-cut-watchmendc-dvdcover-preview.jpgBTW the database only has the digital copy right now. | | | CaptKiirk42 DVD Collection/ Also Klandersen at DVDAF DVDCrate Collection My Blog | | | Last edited: by CaptKirk42 |

Thanks, I had come to some of your conclusions myself after cooling down a bit. I still am amazed though: how understocked have they got to be to run dry in less than 48 hrs?
@TheDarkKnight I probably could've done that, but then again, it was easier to take my business elsewhere. Plus, if a call would've resulted in receiving the discontinued item, I wouldn't be able to trust Deep anymore. The way it is now, I assume I simply came too late and will buy from them again.
@JackKnight Ok, so it seems correct after all. Thanks for the info.
@klandersen Frankly, I don't care about the digital copy at all, all I wanted was the Director's Cut, since it won't be released in Germany any time soon. Whichever Deep would've sent my way would've been fine with me. | | | Lutz |

Had the same problem with Digital Copies as well (even though i'm not interrested in those i still wanted to try). Also, when ordering through Amazon, you sometimes recieve a code to watch the movie in advance via their download service, again not available in the Netherlands. Paul |
