| Posted: | | | | If you enjoyed Hong Kong Phooey, can I recommend a TV show called Batfink? 100 x 4/5 minute episodes. |

| Posted: | | | | Toon Time!Three teenagers and the ghost of a patriot from the American Revolution set across the country to uphold justice and fight discrimination.I'll Haunt You LaterSeason 1 - Episode 3Mudsy and the gang leave the mansion to check out some ghostly happenings in nearby Fort LaFitte. The Looney Duney breaks down just outside the fort adding to their concerns. Will they be able to crack this case or is it a lost cause? My Thoughts:Britt and I thought we would watch the Funky Snagglepuss... I mean Funky Phantom. The voice is done by the same person that did snagglepuss... and he didn't even attempt to make the voice any different at all. Other then the awful theme song... I always liked this show as a kid. And it still holds up for me... talk of nostalgia! Though I do have to say... why was The Funky Phantom always so scared? He was already a ghost... what more could happen to him? But as I said... I enjoyed watching this again. Would like to see a DVD set released with all the episodes. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Title: Superman: The Movie Year: 1978 Director: Richard Donner Rating: PG Length: 151 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.30:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 5.1, Commentary: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo, Music Only: Dolby Digital: 5.0 Subtitles: English, French, Portuguese, Spanish Stars:Marlon Brando as Jor-El Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor Christopher Reeve as Superman / Clark Kent Ned Beatty as Otis Jackie Cooper as Perry White Plot:Soaring even higher in a state-of-the-art digital transfer from restored elements and with dynamically remixed digital audio, the Academy Award®-winning* adventure also now includes eight minutes integrated into the film by director Richard Donner. Enjoy more footage of the Krypton Council, a glimpse of stars of prior Superman incarnations, more of Jor-El underscoring his son's purpose on Earth and an extended sequence inside Lex Luthor's gauntlet of doom. Christopher Reeve (Superman/Clark Kent), Marlon Brando (Jor-El), Gene Hackman (Luthor) and Margot Kidder (Lois Lane) give indelible performances that fuel the film's aura of legend. Looks like a swell night for flying. Why not come along? *1978: Special Achievement in Visual Effects Extras:Scene Access Audio Commentary Feature Trailers Deleted Scenes Featurettes Production Notes DVD-ROM Content Closed Captioned Audio Outtakes Screen Tests My Thoughts:This movie... with Christopher Reeve in the starring role... was how I grew up knowing Superman to be. At the time I was more used to seeing him in the role more so then George Reeves. I believe this came from a time that I did not like to watch anything that was in Black and White.... yes... I was one of those people at one time. But I have sense learned there is a lot of great entertainment out there in Black and white... and now have all the George Reeves Superman episodes... including the early Black and White ones. But I think... to me at least... when I think Superman... I still picture Christopher Reeve. My favorite scene in this movie... one that makes me laugh even to this day... has to be the scene when Superman is seen for the very first time. Especially when he flies up the side of the building to catch Lois Lane... saying "Don't Worry Miss, I got you."... and she comes back with... "You got me... Who's got you!!!"... I don't know what it is about it... but I love that line. I know there is some that don't like how Christopher Reeve portrayed Clark Kent. But you know... while I understand that point of view... I find it very entertaining and fun to watch. I also felt it added to the whole Clark Kent can't be Superman... even more so then the glasses for a costume. I have to say... I think I like the entire cast for these movies. Especially Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor and of course there is Marlon Brando as Jor-El. Also I have to say I liked how they had some nodes to past incarnations of Superman when they showed a young Lois Lane riding the train with her parents early in the movie. They had Noel Neil as her mother... who was of course Lois Lane in Adventures of Superman and Kirk Alyn as her father... who was of course Clark Kent/Superman in the old movie serials. | Posted: | | | | Toon Time! The series focuses on Wheelie, a red Volkswagen Beetle, and his girlfriend Rota Ree (a pun on both the "rotary engine" and Ruta Lee). Wheelie made his living as a professional- and quite successful- racing and stunt car. Wheelie didn't talk (Unlike the other characters in the show) but emoted by honking and displaying symbols across his windshield showing his inner thoughts such as a heart for love or a lightbulb for an idea. Wheelie could also produce any form of prop needed from his trunk thru the use of special mechanized hands, much like Inspector Gadget would later. Wheelie's regular nemeses were a 4-member motorcycle gang called the Chopper Bunch which included the leader Chopper (Who was jealous of Wheelie and had a spiked motorcycle helmet for a head), Revs (a sputtering three-wheeled motorcycle who often mixed up his words), Hi-Riser (who was tall in body but shorter in brains), and Scrambles (a small minibike who acted more like the good kid caught up in the wrong crowd). Scrambles would constantly try to warn Chopper that his plans were about to backfire only to be rebuffed ("Muffle it, Scrambles!") and end up taunting his sullen leader once they inevitably did:Double Cross CountrySeason 1 - Episode 2A cross country race is being held and the winner gets to eat and dance at a fancy restaurant with Rota as their date. Will Wheelie win the race or will Chopper and his bunch spoil it for him and win it themselves? My Thoughts:This was never a favorite cartoon of mine growing up. But I promised Brittany I wouldn't watch any of the ones she is interested in seeing without her.... and well... she isn't out of bed yet. And of course when she looked at the list... she was interested in all the good ones... only leaving me a few to choose from she wasn't interested in. While not terribly hard to watch... it remains far from my favorite of '70s cartoons. I mean this is a far cry from the wonderful work that Disney/Pixar did with their movie Cars. Unfortunately... they seen fit to put 3 of these on the '70s set that I have. More then any other show on the set. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Title: Summer of Fear (AKA: Stranger in Our House) Year: 1978 Director: Wes Craven Rating: PG-13 Length: 98 Min. Video: Full Frame 1.33:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 5.1, English: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo, Commentary: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo Subtitles: English Stars:Linda Blair as Rachel Bryant Lee Purcell as Julia Jeremy Slate as Tom Bryant Jeff McCracken as Mike Gallagher Jeff East as Peter Bryant Plot:From famed horror master Wes Craven comes a chilling thriller starring acclaimed actress Linda Blair! When Rachel's cousin Julia comes to live with the family at the farm, unsettling things begin to occur. Casting an alluring spell over everyone she meets, Julia slowly lures everyone away from Rachel. Terrifying instances of the occult begin to take place, forcing Rachel to fight for survival against what is revealed to be a horrifying demonic presence! Extras:Scene Access Audio Commentary Bonus Trailers Production Notes Closed Captioned My Thoughts:After watching The Exorcist with Brittany the other day... I felt like watching another movie with Linda Blair. This is actually an old TV Movie. Yes I realize there is an MPAA rating above for this movie... but it is one of those rare occasions where a TV Movie put through the MPAA for an official rating at the time of it's DVD release. Another familiar face in this movie is Fran Drescher (The Nanny) who has a small part as Rachel's friend. This is actually one of the few movies I have dealing with witchcraft... at least compared to other horror sub-genres. Being a '70s TV movie there is of course no type of gore and most of the bad things that happens occur off screen. But it is a good story with characters you care about. I enjoyed this one quite a bit... I would recommend checking it out. My Rating: 4/5 | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Toon Time!In The New Adventures of Batman, the "Dynamic Duo" fights crime in Gotham City, encountering the classic Batman rogues gallery as well as some original villains. Complicating matters is Bat-Mite, a well meaning imp from another dimension called Ergo, who considers himself Batman's biggest fan. As a result, he wears a variant of Batman’s costume and attempts to help him, only to often create more problems (although he is occasionally an asset).PestSeason 1 - Episode 1The Joker steals an experimental hydrogen-powered car, disguising himself as the inventor, but without his knowledge of the car's weakness. My Thoughts:I always liked the Batman cartoons... and this one is no different. But it is my least favorite incarnation. That is all due to that aggravating addition to the series... Bat-Mite. Not only is he aggravating and annoying... but I see no need for a supernatural being from another dimension in a Batman cartoon. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Title: Escape to Witch Mountain Year: 1975 Director: John Hough Rating: G Length: 97 Min. Video: Anamorphic Widescreen Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 5.1, French: Dolby Digital: 5.1 Subtitles: English Stars:Eddie Albert as Jason O'Day Ray Milland as Aristotle Bolt Donald Pleasence as Lucas Deranian Kim Richards as Tia Malone Ike Eisenmann as Tony Malone Plot:Get ready for nonstop surprises in this classic Disney fantasy adventure as you escape to the amazing world of Tony and Tia Malone. Join brother and sister on their exciting quest to unravel the mystery of where to call home. At first their extraordinary powers prove irresistible to millionaire Aristotle Bolt (Ray Milland), who wants the kids to make him richer. Trying to escape, they meet an impatient camper (Eddie Albert), but win him over with their uncanny abilities. Now the ultimate chase is on, heading right into an out-of-this-world and unexpected finale you won't want to miss! Extras:N/A My Thoughts:This is a DVD I bought Brittany for Christmas back in 2006. But for some reason never watched it till now. So I haven't seen either movie in this set since I was a kid. It is a fun... entertaining family movie. Sure it shows it's age... especially in some of the special effects such as the flying camper. But that is easily forgiven with the over-all fun of the movie. Watching this movie with Brittany today really brought back some memories for me. Fun time. My Rating: 4/5 | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Toon Time!Hong Kong PhooeyAnimated childrens show about a dog who is the janitor for a police station...until danger threatens, at which point he turns into the martial arts superhero Hong Kong Phooey! Zoo StorySeason 1 - Episode 2The Hopeless Diamond has recently been stolen, so Hong Kong Phooey looks into the issue in hopes of finding it; though things soon take a turn into the unexpected when it seems a recent string of Kangaroo thefts may be related to the theft of the Hopeless Diamond. My Thoughts:Another fun episode. This was the last of the Hong Kong Fooey episodes in this set. One of these days I really should get the entire series. I know it was released long ago! I am sure Brittany would love to see them all as well. | | | Pete | | | Last edited: by Addicted2DVD |

| Posted: | | | | Title: Salem's Lot Year: 1979 Director: Tobe Hooper Rating: NR Length: 183 Min. Video: Full Frame 1.33:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: Mono Subtitles: English, French Stars:David Soul as Ben Mears James Mason as Richard K. Straker Lance Kerwin as Mark Petrie Bonnie Bedelia as Susan Norton Lew Ayres as Jason Berk Plot:With Salem’s Lot, a blood-curdling shocker based on the novel by Stephen King, director Tobe Hooper (Poltergeist) sends the time-honored vampire legend soaring on bat wings into the modern era. Sinister events bring together a writer (David Soul) fascinated with an old hilltop house, a suave antiques dealer (James Mason) whose expertise goes beyond bric-a-brac and the dealer’s mysterious, pale-skinned "partner" (Reggie Nalder). The solid supporting cast of vampire victims and fighters includes Bonnie Bedelia, Lew Ayres, Elisha Cook, Ed Flanders, George Dzundza, Lance Kerwin, Geoffrey Lewis and Marie Windsor. It’s hard to keep the undead down. And so easy to be scared in Salem’s Lot. Extras:Scene Access Feature Trailers Closed Captioned My Thoughts:I have loved this one since the first time I saw it back in my teen years. Of course this is an adaptation from the book that Stephen King wrote. Who of course is my favorite horror writer. For a movie that is just over 30 years old... this movie has some decent scares in it. I personally haven't been scared from it since I was a kid... but I do remember it would scare my wife every time we watched it. A couple of my favorite spooky parts in this movie is .. 1. The kid vampire scratching at his friends window.... pleading with him to let him in. 2. The grave digger rocking in the rocking chair... looks over at you and hisses at you with his eyes glowing I am really enjoying watching this one again. As for comparing this one to the remake... that is something I don't normally like to do... but sometimes it is just too hard not to. I really like both versions... like them both a lot! but I think I have to say I enjoy this one the most between the 2. I don't know why... but to me this one is a pure classic when it comes to vampire movies... it is one of the ones to beat! Needless to say... this is one I would always highly recommend to any horror fan... and an absolute must see for any fan of vampire movies. Now... please lets see a dvd release of Return to Salem's Lot! It has been so long since I seen the sequel I can't remember anything other then it's existence. My Rating: 4.5/5 | | | Pete |

Will C.C. trick Wheelie into falling for Chopper's traps? My Thoughts:The first thing I noticed when watching the second episode on the set... At least in the case of Wheelie and the Chopper Bunch is that they didn't have the opening theme on the second (and I imagine 3rd) episode. I still don't think too highly of these toons. It is one of those deals where I will watch it since it is on the set... but it is not a show I would actually buy to add to my collection... even if it was released in a complete series set. | | | Pete |

Video: Anamorphic Widescreen 2.35:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo, English: Dolby Digital: Mono, French: Dolby Digital: Mono, Commentary: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo Subtitles: English Stars:Donald Sutherland as Captain Benjamin 'Hawkeye' Pierce Elliott Gould as Captain 'Trapper' John McIntyre Tom Skerritt as Captain Augustus 'Duke' Forrest Sally Kellerman as Major Margaret 'Hot Lips' Houlihan Robert Duvall as Major Frank Burns, M.D. Plot:One of the world's most acclaimed comedies, M*A*S*H focuses on three Korean War Army surgeons brilliantly brought to life by Donald Sutherland, Tom Skerritt and Elliott Gould. Though highly skilled and deeply dedicated, they adopt a hilarious, lunatic lifestyle as an antidote to the tragedies of their Mobile Army Surgical Hospital, and in the process infuriate Army bureaucrats. Robert Duvall, Gary Burghoff and Sally Kellerman co-star as a sanctimonious Major, an other-worldly Corporal, and a self-righteous yet lusty nurse. Extras:Scene Access Audio Commentary Feature Trailers Featurettes Gallery Production Notes Closed Captioned THX My Thoughts:This is a movie I have not watched in years. It is a fun movie to watch... I enjoy it. But I do prefer the series over this movie. That could be because I grew up watching the series. While the movie was fun it lacked the style of comedy that the series is so well known for. My interest in the movie strayed a bit once they got to the football game. I mean it was ok... but not sure it worked well with the rest of the movie. Especially where they had Hot Lips lead the cheerleaders. That just seemed out of character for her going by the rest of the movie. My Rating: 3.5/5 | | | Pete | | | Last edited: by Addicted2DVD |
