Pantheon,

I don't know what to say. All of what you have said is true. I for one will miss your steady nature and your sensibilities. Your contributions have always been excellent. Most of all I wish to thank you for all your hard work. I hope you will reconsider at some time, until then take care friend.

I generally haven't been contributing credits for the same reason for quite a while now. Thanks for all the work you put in.

If I don't agree with a rule I don't follow the rule, but also don't contribute it. Only when my way of looking at things are on par with the rules do I actually contribute data to the online. And when I do contribute, I have a personal rule that says I only ever contribute something once.

[...]

The end result is that the work I do, I do for myself. I contribute that work because I see no reason not to. If others can benefit from my work, that's great! But I'm not going to do a bunch of work that follows the rules precisely, submit it, and then change it all to suit my own preferences.

Very sorry to see you leave, Pantheon!

I hope I haven't in any way contributed to your decision, and hopefully you'll find some love for things once more and we'll see you again.

And I certainly haven't said it enough to everyone who contributes, so, to you, Pantheon, and everyone who contributes to the database, a big THANK YOU!!!!

Very few people ever say thank you anymore. I don’t contribute profiles to bolster my own contribution record or to inflate my sense of self-importance. I do it so others can benefit from the work I’m doing anyway. But...sometimes it’s nice to get a pat on the back. Too many users are content to sit back and let everyone else do the work (and I’m not referring to most forum members, because you are obviously more involved).

Maybe there should be an easier way to green-arrow a contribution. Currently you have to open the contribution notes history to do that. Why not in the contrib screen itself?

Like "Neutral" "Vote Yes" "Vote Yes and Greenie" and "Vote No".

I (me, personally) wouldn't hand out greenies just because someone added a DiscId. But for a larger contribution. Sure. Why not?

Fully agree with V'ger - very good idea!

So sorry to see you leave, Pantheon. Your posts have struck me as being balanced and well-considered. A big THANK YOU for both your posts and your excellent contributions is in place. Take care!!

Pantheon, you will be missed.  Your work has always been good and your words always friendly...at least to me.  Vaya con Dios amigo.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

Recently I upped my participation in the forums and, boy, do I regret that decision.

I'm sorry you feel that way.  It was a joy to see you return after your long absence.  Sorry you feel the need to leave again.  Hope to see you back again someday.

Thanks for the hard work, but I have to agree with your sister.  I really don't care about much beyond knowing what I have, when it was watched, how long it is.  I like the linking thing so I can see what else I have that someone has been in, but it's not the end of the world since IMDB can take care of that.  My personal database is a mess, but I really don't care all that much.  It meets my personal needs.

You won't see me contributing much to credits until this is resolved, either. For instance, Terminator 2 has 151 entries in the DB, not counting any countries that called it something else. If there's a mistake somewhere, we have to correct 151 profiles. For that matter, it doesn't even have to be a mistake. Edward Furlong could start going by Eddie and we'd have to change his name on everything. It's not worth the trouble to maintain the DB in its current state. Even relatively obscure movies will have more than a dozen profiles.

Even though I haven't really interacted with you, I've seen many of your posts and attempts to encourage others.  I'm sorry you feel that you need to stop contribution, but given how you feel, it is probably a good idea for you.

I'd have to change my article then?

(Sorry, couldn't resist)

@Pantheon:
Yet another one to leave.
Hopefully you'll reconsider your decision
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I think it's safe to say for the majority (like myself) the online for this program is dead to all but a few and most would rather exercise ultimate control by keeping there database offline and allowing to have as much or as little data as possible in it.

Or find alternative ways to use there profiler based database online.

I have thought this way for a very long time and have really laughed at just how uber seriously pepole take almost pointless data.

So Pantheon a big well done to you for finally seeing the light cause frankly no one here not even myself is worth a second of your time.

Who needs another head shot or the spelling of someone's name from the DVD credits.

Pray everyone else sees the light and let this rotten bureaucracy crumble and start a new.
